Become a Giraffe Detective as Lord Winklebottom Investigates this July

A 1920’s inspired point-and-clicker, Lord Winklebottom Investigates takes the usual old genre elements and looks to infuse some fun and utter weirdness into proceedings. And it’ll be doing that later this July.

Due to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam on July 28th 2022, Lord Winklebottom Investigates comes from the Cave Monsters team – a one-woman dev outfit – helped to market by a rather successful Kickstarter campaign.

When it does arrive, you’ll want to find yourself getting involved too. See, Lord Winklebottom Investigates takes you back to the 1920s as you take on the role of a leading detective – Lord Winklebottom. It’s they who are looking to solve the murder or a dear old friend.

The catch? Well, Lord Winklebottom is a giraffe, his tea-drinking companion is a hippo and the story and narrative which plays out will see you interrogating and chatting to all manner of strange animals. With full inspiration coming about via the likes of Agatha Christie and Sherlock Holmes, whilst the humour side of Lord Winklebottom Investigates seems ripped straight from Monty Pyhton or Blackadder, this is sure to be a fun affair. Expect this one to be more than a little bit bizarre.

Seagulls who like a drink, goat maid (and we’re getting Goat Sim vibes from the trailer’s opening moments) and even a puffin in a rather fetching jacket will all be in place here, as you attempt to work with the madness and go about solving a host of puzzles.

Should you be sold from the trailer, then keep an eye out for Lord Winklebottom Investigates as it releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC (Steam) on July 28th. Expect to pay around £15.99 for it – although we’ll pop up on release day with full confirmation of that.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
