After returning to Earth, an astronaut finds that it has a post-apocalyptic vibe going on, but with the help of a lantern he could have a chance to actually save the planet from whatever destroyed it. That’s the puzzle-filled premise of The Great Perhaps and it’s out right now on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
Kosmos is the protagonist of this 2.5D puzzling single-player adventure, which sees him trying to uncover what actually happened to Earth. Rather handily he stumbles upon a special lantern, enabling the ability to time travel and solve the numerous puzzles ahead. As a result, you’ll face danger in the post-apocalyptic present, as well as in the escapades involving the past. Ultimately, you must aid the astronaut on his journey to find out the true cause of the disaster and save the planet in the process.
The Great Perhaps will challenge you with its puzzles and mini-games, both of which make the most of the time travel element. It also looks set to offer a gripping story alongside an atmospheric, Soviet style, world that’s been hand-drawn. For a full low-down of what to expect, we’d highly recommend a read of our in-depth review.
