There are a few games in most people’s gaming history that can be pointed at as turning points, or at least as significant in some way. For instance, for myself it was a game called Combat on the Atari 2600 - a title that got me into gaming in a big way, followed by Street Fighter 2 in the arcades, then Goldeneye. The biggest, most significant game of my own Xbox 360 era though is without doubt Battlefield: Bad Company 2. So come with me on a trip back in time while I attempt to explain why it meant so much then, and still continues to be important even today.

Star Wars games have been an important part of Star Wars history, and video game history for that matter. Games like Knights of the Old Republic I and II hold a special place in the hearts of both Star Wars fans and those who love the Original Xbox. So it gives me great pleasure to talk about one of my favourite Star Wars games of all time, and one of the best Original Xbox games of all time – Star Wars Republic Commando.
Resident Evil Revelations 2 was a fascinating experiment with the episodic structure of games that was popular at the time. This worked to its advantage and tantalising ‘next time’ snippets sparked a community of players to carefully dissect and digest each episode’s contents for a hint at where the journey was taking them.
Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars on Xbox One is shaping up to be an immersive and engaging experience, especially for those interested in vampiric myth and legend. There’s a good depth to the strategy and, like a good board game, it is seemingly complicated at first but doesn’t take too long to get to grips with.
At some stage the world will be ready for Street Fighter to move into the future with a brand new cast of world warriors, and maybe, just maybe, Ryu and Ken can finally retire their Hadoukens.

Hand of Fate is still a wonderful reinvention of the collectable card game genre, seamlessly mixing action-RPG dungeon crawling with addictive deck building mechanics to create a truly unique experience.
Deadly Premonition plays out in the now traditional third person, over the shoulder camera view that has become de rigueur for survival horror games. The graphics, even back in the day, weren't the stand-out feature of the game though. They had a certain muddy quality, a low-res look that, while not impressive, did sort of suit the game's style. Certainly once I got into the story, the visual look ceased to matter to me.
Whether Moving Out will have the same sticking power as Overcooked! remains to be seen, but although it borrows a similar formula, it’s evident it has an identity of its own. The levels are playful, the controls are accessible and the humour is consistent. Moving Out has the foundations to be a hit multiplayer experience when it hits Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC in April.
It’s almost impossible to sum up in writing just how much detail and information is present in the Assassin’s Creed: The Essential Guide, so I implore you to take a look for yourself.
Allow me – if you will – a quick anecdote. I was recently at a Periphery gig the night that X019 held it’s biggest ever Inside Xbox, but in between the support act and the main band, I did sneak a peek at what had been announced. I had been anticipating a Yakuza release on Xbox for some time, but seeing the announcement officially was the best thing I heard all evening. And while Periphery were excellent, I was just incredibly excited to finally have the series on Xbox. And if it sounds immature that a 30-year-old man can still get childishly giddy about a videogame then I don’t care, the Yakuza series is simply that good.

Last time we checked in on Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid we asked ourselves whether the first Season Pass was worth it or not. Now, with the release of a second Season Pass and what the developers are calling Version 2.0, we are once again looking to see what more has been added.
