The holiday season may be in full swing and very soon we’ll be playing with new toys, but today we must say goodbye to some that have provided plenty of joy in recent times. Yep, the big Game Pass switch is in place today, with 4 games leaving the service.Â
Game Pass subscribers should know by now that as part of their subscription, games will come in, and move out, on a fairly regular basis. For the most part that happens a couple of times. every month – right at the very end and, like today, right in the middle.Â
Mid-December then is no different. But whilst previous months have seen some seven or so games move from the service, December is seen shifting out just 4. You may be said to see the back of some of these though.
So what’s on the way out of Game Pass today?
Those 4 games are Chained Echoes, Potion Craft: Alchemist Simulator and Rubber Bandits across all of Console, Cloud and PC subscriptions. Joining those is the PC only affair of Opus Magnum.Â
Rubber Bandits
For us, it’s probably Rubber Bandits that will be the biggest hit. A game that dropped into Game Pass Day One back in january 2022, we had some good fun with it, and with the Game Pass masses taking it to their hearts, it’s a game that initially thrived. We’re slightly concerned then that by taking away those Game Pass millions, it may struggle, but we’ll see how it goes.
If you haven’t played Rubber Bandits, let our 4/5 review sum things up…Â
“Despite lacking some depth, Rubber Bandits offers a thoroughly enjoyable multiplayer experience both on and offline. It’s the perfect party game to dip in and out of if you’re after something a little different.”
Chained Echoes
Chained Echoes is another Day One Game Passer that has been on the service for some twelve months or so. It’s another that we got along with really rather well, once more hitting a 4/5 review score to the world.Â
An accomplished JRPG, if you are in the market for a bit of a story and some classic retro feels, this is one to hunt down. It’s just that you’ll now have to hunt it down outside of your Game Pass subscription. A £20.99 price tag from the Xbox Store may be low enough to tempt you in.Â
Others leave too
Those would be our two picks from the four games leaving Game Pass today, but perhaps you will miss Potion Craft or Opus Magnum more. If that’s the case, let us know about it in the comments.Â
What’s next for Game Pass
With the Christmas and New Year period to come, we’re expecting a bit of a quieter time in terms of the changes to Game Pass. But until full confirmation is made via Xbox HQ, we do at least have Turnip Boy Robs a Bank to look forward to joining Game Pass in January. That one follows on from the previous release of Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion – perhaps that’s why he’s now robbing a bank…
We’re sure there will be more accompanying that.
