It wouldn’t be a week of gaming without the team at KEMCO providing players with a new retro-fuelled RPG. Thankfully that’s what we get today with the launch of METRO QUESTER. Ready to take in a new thrilling dungeon quest?
Anyone familiar with the retro-RPG scene will know all about KEMCO. It’s they who have provided an absolute ton of adventures for players to get involved in. In fact, they’ve recently dropped a huge 50-game bundle onto Xbox. And that doesn’t even include all of their games.
The latest is that of METRO QUESTER. Available right now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, it’s downloadable from the Xbox Store as we speak. METRO QUESTER is also on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch too.Â
Another KEMCO RPG
No matter where you buy it from, METRO QUESTER is one that will appeal to the dungeon explorers out there. Running as the usual KEMCO RPG, it thrusts us off to a futuristic world, a post-apocalyptic land that has been put together by Kazushi Hagiwara; a renowned manga artist.
When you then include that the systems involved have been created by Hironori Kato, it’s obvious to see why this one is much anticipated.
We’ll get in on the full review of METRO QUESTER and deliver our thoughts very soon. What you should know though is that if you’re at all familiar with other KEMCO titles, this is one you should be radaring immediately. In fact, there’s a chance that this could well be in the upper echelons of the genre.

- Dungeon Exploration – Explore the desolate dungeons of TOKYO using auto-mapping. Within the dungeon, there are breakable walls, creature nests, spots with food and resources, as well as vaults awaiting adventurers. Obtain “Purification Fuel” for action and “food” for survival, while discovering new bases and allies, aiming for the deepest part.
- Hack and Slash – The dungeon is overflowing with opportunities to acquire a wide variety of equipment. Sometimes they will drop from defeated enemies, or can be found in safes. If you’re lucky, you may come across rare equipment. It’s up to you whether you want to use these equipment to challenge formidable foes, modify and strengthen them, or disassemble them for resources.
- Battles – Within one turn, you can select up to three commands as long as your Action Points (AP) allow. However, since enemies also take multiple actions in one turn, it’s a layered system of battles where one turn can overlap with several others. By carefully assessing the expected turn order displayed on the battle screen and the Hate values that make you more likely to be targeted by enemies, you can plan targeted combos and skill combinations. Effective Hate control can help you efficiently manage the commands of tank and attacker roles.

METRO QUESTER is a dungeon exploration RPG based in a post-apocalyptic futuristic world created by the manga artist Kazushi Hagiwara, with a deep game system designed by Hironori Kato that offers the excitement and surprises reminiscent of 1980s computer games through hack and slash.
