Fancy yourself as a bit of a lady-bug killer? With ChiliDog Interactive and Cascadia Games’ Mighty Aphid on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S you’ll be able to prove it.

A world away from the real lady killer that is Leisure Suit Larry, Mighty Aphid puts you in the shoes of Avery (Aphid) Cavor as he goes about trying to put a stop to the evil plans of Lady Bug and her horde of monsters. Why? Well, with his father is getting on a bit, his mother is laid out on her death bed and his sister has disappeared off to the moon, and that means there’s pretty much no one else available for such a mission. And if he doesn’t step up to the plate, his town of Victoria is going to be overflowing with evil before he knows it.

Priced at ÂŁ4.19 from the Xbox Store, with playability on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, Mighty Aphid seems to be a bit of a humorous little affair as you go about running, gunning, swimming and flying your way to victory. Multiple stages will be in place, ripe for exploration and with inspiration coming about via the classic 2D platformers of yesteryear, we’ve got some decently high hopes for what Mighty Aphid can bring – if only as that low asking price makes this more than worthy of a punt.

Our full review of Mighty Aphid will arrive before your eyes in the coming days, once we’ve had a good chance to settle down and help our mate Avery defeat this evil Lady Bug.

If however you are sold right here and right now, and reckon that the asking price makes this worthy of a shot, get yourself over to the Xbox Store and grab a little download.

Game Description:

His famous father is aging. His mother is dying. And his big sister is on the moon. So it is up to Avery «Aphid» Cavor to stop the villainous Lady Bug from wrecking the town of Victoria with her horde of monsters! Mighty Aphid by Cascadia Games — instant 2D classics filled with easter eggs, quotes and references from the popular platforming games of the past! You’ll have to run, shoot, swim, and fly. You’ll need to explore huge levels and fight big bosses. You’ll be able to earn upgrades to finally defeat Lady Bug. Relive the early days of 2D platform gaming with this modern action-adventure game.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
