Frigato Shadows of the Caribbean 01

Should you be a fan of a good old tactical challenge, some old school pirate adventures or the stuff of legends, then there’s a chance that Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean is one you’ll need to keep an eye on.

It’s coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch in 2023, delivering real-time tactical stealth to the masses. And if you can’t wait that long, a PC demo will be popping up in the upcoming Steam Next festival.

Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean is being developed by Mercat Games, an independent studio from Poland, as they go about working with their friends, seeing the game published by Ultimate Games (Electrician Simulator, Priest Simulator).

When it does arrive, players should expect to find a real-time stealth tactical game with an isometric view, all focused on single-player gameplay. It’s here where the player will get to command a crew of sea dogs and take on a wide array of challenges. It goes without saying that a wisely prepared plan and tactical sense will be key to success. Find that success and you will gain notoriety as an elusive pirate-gentleman, but just be aware that an altogether different route may also crop up, one that will see the bloody terror of the Caribbean coming to the fore.

“In Frigato, we combine the elements of pirate adventures, dark legends and rowdy humour into a unique whole. The game will loosely refer to the so-called golden age of piracy – the 17th and 18th century. Gameplay-wise, it should appeal to fans of games like Shadow Tactics, Desperados, Commandos, War Mongrels and Partisans 1941” – said Jakub Brzeziński, game designer at Mercat Games.

Mercat Games are looking to emphasis the point that Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean will offer many different paths to complete individual objectives. The game’s lifespan will be additionally extended by numerous side quests and secrets waiting to be discovered.

Frigato will debut on PC, followed by Xbox and Nintendo Switch releases. Perhaps later it will also appear on PlayStation consoles. Importantly, soon everyone will be able to check the game for themselves thanks to the demo, featuring a long mission, which we will present during the Steam Next festival, starting June 13th this year” – announced Rafał Jelonek, COO at Ultimate Games S.A.

Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean key features will include:

  • real-time tactical stealth game;
  • an intriguing world of pirate adventures and legends;
  • many paths to success;
  • high difficulty level;
  • side quests and secrets;
  • The Caribbean during the golden age of piracy;
  • original soundtrack.

Keep an eye out for Frigato: Shadows of the Caribbean on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch in 2023. Or hit Steam for that demo soon. There’s a trailer below that is worth a watch too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
