Head to the Pirate City with Under the Jolly Roger’s new DLC

It’s been a year since the HeroCraft team went up against Sea of Thieves with their release of Under the Jolly Roger. Now though it’s time to build out the base game with some Pirate City DLC.

Available to purchase, download and add into your Under the Jolly Roger base game today is the Pirate City DLC. It’s present on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and Nintendo Switch, as HeroCraft look to expand the original game with new features, ideas and quests.

Priced at £6.69 from the Xbox Store, Pirate City adds the ability to build and develop your very own settlement within Under the Jolly Roger, as you look to give a home to your pirate crew, feeding them with proper defenses, allowing the chance to trade with others and head out on a search for missing folk.

Oh, and because this is Pirate City, punishing the thieves among your crew will now be an everyday occurence.

There’s more though and whilst our original review of Under the Jolly Roger spoke positively of the sea combat sections and amount of depth found, the mind-numbingly excruciating tutorials and the clunky hand-to-hand combat certainly pulled it down a peg (leg) or two. Pirate City will look to reestablish things with new quests which will allow you to become the richest pirate of all time, and new land battle arenas so that you can test that clunky combat out for yourself.

Features include:

  • Develop your own settlement – As a savvy manager, you can transform your village into a thriving city. Become the richest and most famous pirate of all the time!
  • Find a mysterious ship – Legend tells of a sinister ship, roving the ocean for countless decades. Capture it, and you’ll have a choice of 4 extra decorative figureheads: wolf, tiger, bear, and lion. Do you have the courage to uncover its dark secrets?
  • Buy a share in any shop – Improve your financial situation so you can invest even more funds in your city. Let your city stand out from others!
  • Become a champion in the battle arena – We’re introducing a land battle arena! Now the only one you can rely on during the fight will be yourself. Will you be able to survive the battle against pirates and resurrected skeletons?

Should you have gone fighting dangerous sea creatures and attempted to capture ships the first time around, we think that the Pirate City DLC for Under the Jolly Roger may well be worth a bit of consideration. If you don’t have the base game, this probably isn’t going to make a sale, but it could well be one for the fans.

Let us know what you think though. The comments are below.

DLC Description:

Ahoy Captain! We would like to inform you that the Pirate City DLC, full of adventures and mystical secrets, is moored at the docks of the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S! We’re sure that years spent at sea have left their mark on you. Endless fights with pirates and sea monsters, the struggle for survival, the loss of the ship and crew members… But it’s time to relax! Get off the ship, forget about the battles for a little bit, and relax in the pirate city! The DLC adds a long awaited feature: the ability to build and develop your own settlement. Get ready to provide your new home with proper defenses, do favors for fellow traders and be generously rewarded, set out in search for missing people, and punish a thief among your crew. Sounds like some great adventures are waiting for you, captain!
