Last night at Gamescom 2020, Microids premiered their very first trailer for Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered and it’s sure to be a timeless classic!
Whether you’re a young wannabe Gaul or a confirmed warrior with hundreds of Roman helmets as trophies, the adventure awaits in Asterix & Obelix XXL: Romastered. This updated version of the game might have fallen in the magic potion as both the graphics and the soundtrack are fully remastered, while the game sees the addition of reworked animations as well as some brand new gameplay elements. Of course, as is the norm in the series, players will be able to switch between the two Gauls as they see fit.
On top of the enhancements, the Romastered edition is bringing 4 new game modes to the table for even more Roman slapping enjoyment. This includes the agility challenging Parkour mode, the speed-focused Against the Hourglass mode, and the terribly difficult Extreme option. Finally, the cherry on the boar so to speak, is a fourth new game mode called Retr, which will allow you to switch between the original graphics and the new remastered version with a push of a button.
In this action-adventure, all the villagers have been kidnapped and are now kept prisoners all around the world by the damned Romans. Thus you’ll need to launch a rescue mission with Asterix, Obelix and the faithful Dogmatix, visiting places such as Normandy, Greece, Helvetia and Egypt with the necessary stop by Rome. To free Getafix, Panacea, Cacofonix and all the rest, you’ll have to fight every enemy along the way: Romans, Pirates and even the Vikings!
Originally released in 2003, this remastered version of Asterix & Obelix XXL is being developed by Osome Studio – following the recent remasters of XXL 2 and XXL 3 – and will launch in Europe on the 22nd October 2020 for Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC/Mac.
