Out of Line to illustrate a journey of self-discovery on console and PC this summer

It promises to allow gamers to take in an award-winning quest that focuses on freedom and identity, delicately playing out as a puzzle platformer in the process. Out of Line looks great – and it’s coming to console and PC this summer.

Detailed and announced for release on PC through Steam and Nintendo Switch in the summer, with Xbox One and PS4 editions dropping a little later in the year, Out of Line comes about via the teams of Nerd Monkeys and their publishers Hatinh Interactive (they behind the previously announced Tandem: A Tale of Shadows).

Previously having picked up a Best Game award at the Portuguese PlayStation Award, Out of Line covers the adventures of San, a young boy who has found himself trapped in a factory by a strange entity. It’ll be up to you to help San pick up memories, solve puzzles and not just unearth his identity, but discover the true meaning of freedom.

“Out of Line is being designed with a stylized approach. The mechanics of the game revolve around San’s spear, something the character sees as a tool that will help him navigate this strange world,” explains Francisco Santos, Lead Artist at Nerd Monkeys. “We want players to learn through experimentation, constantly tinkering with puzzles until they find a logical solution. This design philosophy plays a thematic role in our game, as most individuals find their purpose through trial and error.”

“We are thrilled to be the publisher Out of Line later this year as we are keen to bring to fans of puzzle, platformers and action games a unique experience and a full immersion thanks to the story and the beautiful poetic world of Out of Line” adds Philippe Dao, CEO & Co-founder of Hatinh Interactive

The story of Out of Line will be told through a hand painted artistic landscape which focuses efforts on oppression, isolation, courage, optimism and hope. And it’ll ensure you get the chance to mull over some philosophical depictions broken up by puzzling segments, with things centralising on human existentialism in the age of technology.

If you’re in the market for a mysterious tale, and fancy helping San to self-discovery, keep an eye out for Out of Line later this year. We’ll be sure to follow with Xbox release news as and when we can.

Should you wish to know more, the latest reveal trailer from a few months back will sort you out.
