Edit: 19/05/21 – ROM: NEURODIVER will now be releasing in Q1 2022 with it launching on Xbox Series X|S too
It’s the next entry in MidBoss’ cyberpunk point-and-click adventure franchise and we now know that Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER will not just be hitting PC and Mac, but also Xbox One and PS4 in Q1 2021.
Running as the sequel to 2064: Read Only Memories, NEURODIVER will see you given the chance to re-enter the vibrant and inclusive metropolis of Neo-San Francisco, filled with familiar locations and fan-favourite characters. Yep, that means you’ll be seeing more of the likes of former police detective Lexi Rivers, elite hacker TOMCAT, and genetically-altered lawyer Jess Meas, as you go about exploring a brand new story that delves into perception, reality and identity.
Coming to Xbox One, PS4 and PC in Q1 2021, Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER focuses on the powerful organization MINERVA’s latest breakthrough, a genetically engineered creature called the Neurodiver which can probe deep into the subconscious mind. It’ll be up to you to guide MINERVA agent ES88, capable of using the Neurodiver’s Deep Dive to access and directly interact with memories, as she tracks down a rogue psychic known as the Golden Butterfly.
Hunting down clues to the strange and powerful Golden Butterfly’s whereabouts in the subconscious minds of Neo-San Francisco’s citizens, is what NEURODIVER is all about, as you alter the corrupted memories of the Golden Butterfly’s victims to find traces of its next target before the villain flits away.
“Building new mechanics for NEURODIVER has allowed us to approach the hopeful cyberpunk world we’ve created from new angles,” said Cade Peterson, CEO of MidBoss, “As a diversity-first studio, creating empathy for all kinds of perspectives is part of our mission, and the Deep Dive will allow us to really explore our beloved characters from the inside out.”
Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER will be available for purchase and download in Q1 2021 on Xbox One, PS4, and Steam for PC and Mac. If you prefer those latter two options then you can wishlist it on Steam right now. We reckon you should give the trailer below a watch first and then consider it.
