Developers Triple Topping have announced exactly when they’ll be welcoming us all onto the fictional island of Elk and there really isn’t long to wait. Furthermore, a brand new trailer has emerged ahead of Welcome to Elk’s impending arrival on Xbox One and PC. So let’s find out a bit more about it…

Launching on 17th September, Welcome to Elk is a biographical adventure that takes place on an island created from true stories, and a few tall tales. As such, the narrative sees Elk come across as joyful, dark and hilarious all at once in a journey like no other. It’s based on stories from people who have experienced them or who have heard first-hand accounts. For example, Lauge who lived in Greenland and rural California, who almost smuggled diamonds in India and made friends with Anders who died three times – at the very least.

In regards to this adventure though, you play as Frigg, a young carpenter trading their busy life in the city for an apprenticeship in a small town. When she arrives in Elk, Frigg worries that the slower pace of life will be boring – after all, they don’t even have the internet – but quickly discovers nothing could be further from the truth. The stories experienced from that point on reflect the drama of people’s real lives and it’s apparent that on Elk, humour, love and death go hand in hand. Life may seem hard sometimes, but it is always followed by laughter.

Key Features

  • A narrative game based on real stories told by real people.
  • Mini games that enhance and are deeply connected to the story.
  • An endearing cast of characters whom the world has either ignored or forgotten
  • Humorous and beautiful hand drawn artstyle.

If you’re planning on booking a trip to this drama-fueled island, Welcome to Elk is out 17th September for both Xbox One and PC (Steam). After you’ve watched the trailer bellow, which offers further insight, feel free to leave a comment below with your thoughts!
