As the development team behind the critically acclaimed Shadow Tactics and Desperados III, Mimimi Games are back with their first self-published title. Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is a similarly tactical strategy game, with an emphasis on stealth.
A Golden Age
Set during the Golden Age of Piracy in a chain of islands known as the Lost Caribbean, there seems to be no better setting for a loony pirate adventure on Xbox, PlayStation and PC.
Renowned pirate Afia is on the search for the legendary Black Pearls, but must brave the Lost Caribbean as it is cursed by The Curse of Lost Souls. Eight of your shipmates are playable in this third-person stealth adventure, each with a cooky personality and unique powers. Whoever appeals to your playstyle, they will have a variety of abilities to deploy, such as Afia’s mythical sword, which allows you to dash across spacetime for a rapid sneak attack.
Where the most tactical of gameplay features comes in is with your paranormal ghost ship – The Red Marley. You can manipulate time to your will, freezing the game level in order to queue up multiple character actions, and to take a step back from the action. Experiment with different abilities, and if everything goes pear-shaped, you have the ability to return to a previous moment in time.

It’s now time to board the ghostly Red Marley, and take in Mimimi Games’ latest tactical adventure. Shadow Gambit: The Cursed Crew is now available on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC. To get yourself a copy on Xbox, you can do so for £34.99 through the Xbox Store. There’s a free trial too.

Embark on a journey with cursed pirate Afia and seek the legendary Black Pearls to revive a cursed crew of your own. Each of your eight shipmates is a playable character with an individual personality and armed with unique supernatural powers. Launch friend or foe with Gaëlle’s magical cannon, use Mr. Mercury’s soul anchor to open a magic portal or dash across spacetime for split second stealth attacks with Afia’s mythical sword.
