Peanut butter and jelly. Danny Devito and Arnold Schwarzenegger. Diet Coke and Mentos. Christmas cake and cheese. What do they all have in common? On paper they absolutely shouldn’t work together, and yet they definitely do. But now we need to add videogame music and clubbing to this eclectic mix of weird combinations with the release of Teki and Nick’s Mixtape Quest Adventure.
The mixtape itself is a strange blend, combining late ’80s and early 1990’s VGM and hip hop acapellas resulting in an 80-minute fusion of the games you grew up with and the beats you danced to.
Featuring sounds from such consoles as the NES/Famicom, SNES/Super Famicom, SEGA Megadrive and Commodore 64 with games such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Star Fox, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Chrono Trigger and many more, there will be something for everyone on here.
Then we have the hip-hop artists that are being cut-up and mashed up alongside the VGM. Featuring artists such as Outkast, Missy Elliot, Dizzee Rascal, Migos, Timbaland and Ruff Ryders, the full tracklisting can be found below:
