It’s been a little while since we heard anything from Zen Studios and their brilliant Pinball FX series of games; at least in relation to anything console based. But fear not because from February 2023 Pinball FX will be found on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

Having spent the last fifteen years as the leader in the pinball videogame scene, it’s time for Zen Studios to move back into the land of the console with release of Pinball FX – an all-new pinball affair that will come with some of the most advanced features yet.

It’ll hit Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5 in February 2023, with a Nintendo Switch edition dropping later in the year, with some seventy plus tables delivered at launch. Around that time, Pinball FX will also move from early access to full release on the Epic Games Store.

It promises to be a good old time for pinball fans, as Pinball FX will have one of the bestselling physical tables of all-time front and centre – that of Williams Pinball: The Addams Family. Like all other Williams tables brought home thanks to Zen, this includes both a perfect simulation and – switchable at the touch of a button – an enhanced version complete with 3D character models and dazzling visual effects only possible in a video game.

Further, the likes of Peanuts Snoopy Pinball and Dreamworks Animated Pinball Collection (Trolls, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung-Fu Panda) will drop into the early access options made viable through the Epic Games Store come December 15th.

If you’re unfamiliar with the pinball scene, then Pinball FX will look to evolve what has previously been imagined, more than before. As a franchise, it’s the world’s leading digital pinball brand, with a ton of tables delivered over multiple editions – we found huge love with Pinball FX2 and Pinball FX 3 over the years. The new Pinball FX will let you create your own 3D dream game room, filling it with collectibles and rewards which are unlocked as you play.

It’s all powered by Unreal Engine, comes with Pro Physics, 4K HDR visuals, Ray Tracing and more. There’s even talk of a Pinball Royale mode arriving too.

As it comes out of early access and into full release, launching on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, you should expect to find all the following features…

  • Tables will be purchased in multi-table packs from first-party stores rather than through the purchase of individual tables using in-game currency, as has been used throughout early access. Pinball Pass – which enables unlimited access to almost every table via monthly subscription – will continue to use the in-game currency system.
  • Major Pinball FX game features including Tournaments, Seasonal Events, Pro Mode, Friends Score Chase and Leaderboards will be cross-platform enabled.
  • Pinball Pass is going cross-commerce! Access your Pinball Pass subscription on any platform that supports Pinball Pass.

Let us know if you’ll be tilting and shooting those ramps with Pinball FX come February 2023.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
