Christmas Adventures await with The Grinch

We’re pretty sure there are a ton of games you’re looking to play in the build up to the Halloween season, with the scariest of gaming experiences ready and waiting. But what if you’re looking to skip all that nonsense and need to focus on the Christmas period instead? That’s where The Grinch: Christmas Adventures comes to the fore.

Available right now is The Grinch: Christmas Adventures. It’s on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC, thanks to the Outright Games and Dr. Seuss Enterprises teams.

A new Christmas tale

This is based on the Christmas classic How The Grinch Stole Christmas!. The Grinch: Christmas Adventures looks to take players on a journey through Who-ville, as a whole host of mischief awaits.

Priced at £34.99 and working as a 2D platform adventure, in The Grinch: Christmas Adventures players will play as The Grinch, unsurprisingly. Accompanied by his little dog Max – yep, 2-player local co-op here! – you’ll get to head off in hope of ruining Christmas, stealing ALL the presents as you go.

Puzzles will pop up from time to time. With these helping build out new abilities; like a Santa disguise that will help you sneak around with ease. There will be a snowboard in place for fast travel opportunities too.

You’ll need that as in The Grinch: Christmas Adventures there are three main locales to visit. You’ll find yourself taking in The Grinch’s cave, the countryside and Who-ville. All will be replicated in colour with visuals inspired by Dr. Seuss’s original drawings.

Listen to the devs

Stephanie Malham, COO, Outright Games Ltd, said: “It has been an incredible pleasure to work with Dr. Seuss Enterprises to translate the beloved story of ‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas!’ into the world of video games. We’re bringing this incredible adventure to a whole new generation of fans, and it’s been an exciting experience adapting the core elements that make the book such an enduring classic into a completely different entertainment medium.”

Hernán Castillo, CTO from Casual Brothers Ltd, said: “’How The Grinch Stole Christmas!’ is a classic Christmas story beloved by so many. We wanted to keep the spirit of the book alive within our game and side-scrolling platform adventures are a timeless game design that is familiar to gamers across generations and skill levels.”

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures is available now. You’ll find it on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. Alternatively, it’s on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch and PC.

We’ll look to get some hands-on time with The Grinch and run a review.

The Grinch: Christmas Adventures on Xbox Game Description

Have a great Grinchy time trying to steal Christmas in this festive platformer – and help the Grinch’s small heart grow a few sizes bigger along the way!

Every Who down in Who-ville loves to sing, gift and feast, which are all of the things Grinch can’t stand in the least. So, help the Grinch and his dog Max set out to steal all the presents in Who-ville. You’ll have to be sneaky to avoid the bothersome babble of carol singers, the ever-eager Whos, and all of the tinsel, trimmings and trappings of the Christmas season.

Thankfully, the Grinch has some wonderful, awful ideas – like a Santa costume for stealthy sneaking, a Candy Cane Lasso to swing around, a speedy snowboard that can reach special race areas, and more. And Grinch can throw snowballs to freeze any pesky creatures that get in his way.

With colorful visuals inspired by Dr. Seuss’s original illustrations, local multiplayer fun with up to two players controlling the Grinch and Max, and controls and puzzles designed for younger players, The Grinch: Christmas Adventures is a fun new way to enjoy the classic Christmas tale.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
