Take to The Oregon Trail on Xbox

1985 saw the release of one of the toughest games out there. The original The Oregon Trail has gone down in gaming folklore. And the folks at Gameloft (those behind Disney Dreamlight Valley) and HarperCollins Productions thought it was high time for a successor. It comes including all of the updates that hit the Apple Arcade version of this successor. The Oregon Trail on Xbox is perhaps the best way to experience the challenge!

Edu-tainment!

True to the original is The Oregon Trail. It is found releasing today on Xbox, following prior launches on PC and Switch. And it comes with some real education thrown in. Inspired by real events, you’ll be tasked with leading your party to Oregon. Learn about real historical figures and locations as you encounter them, and complete a number of quests, all taking ideas from real events.

Inventory management is key, as your wagon must be well-stocked. Your party members will suffer with regard to health, morale, stamina and hygiene. These must be carefully looked after. Perhaps the 80+ types of fish that can be caught will be the difference between life and death.

Key Features

  • Build and name your party from different classes—each with their own starting items, skills, and personalities—to make every journey to Oregon unique.
  • Overcome hundreds of random events where your choices affect the fate of your travelers, and are influenced by their unique skills and traits.
  • Remember to take care of your party, wagon, and oxen, or they’ll become casualties of the trail.
  • Take on 15 playable Journeys.
  • Experience 7 Quests inspired by historical events.

  • Dysentery, river fording, broken legs, and many more classic hazards await!
  • A beautiful blend of charming pixel art characters, 3D environments and cutting-edge lighting and visual effects creates a unique visual style that’s both nostalgic and contemporary.
  • An all-original soundtrack of alt-country-inspired music combined with 8-bit-style sound effects.
  • For the first time, the game features Native American playable characters and stories, celebrating the history and cultures of the peoples who first lived on this land and still live here today.
  • Thorough research and multiple academic consultants were involved in this game’s production to ensure accuracy and respectful representation of all peoples depicted in the game.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
