Turn back time with the stunning The Entropy Centre

The Entropy Centre has been hugely anticipated – and that’s not just because of the obvious Portal comparisons. Nope, the reason there is hype is that in The Entropy Centre you’ll be given the chance to turn back time, to control the past, to uncover secrets, all in order to restore the future. Those Portal vibes definitely help sell it though!

The Entropy Centre from Playstack and Stubby Games looks to be a stunner. It tasks you with heading into its world, before rewiring your brain to start thinking in reverse, all in hope of outsmarting the impossible.

If that’s entirely possible, we’re on the train to try it, delving deep into the puzzles that The Entropy Centre brings, all whilst enjoying some fun, some humour and some sharp wit in the process. Yep, again, Portal-like spirits.

Priced up at £23.99, playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC – with new-gen optimisation in the house – it’s easy to see why The Entropy Centre comes with suck appeal.

It whisks us off to the aftermath of an extinction-level event that has taken place on Earth, leaving us as the sole survivor. Thankfully we’ve got a gun to hand – a talking gun no less – and it’s with the aid of ASTRA (that’s the gun) we’re able to start messing around with time and space. Sending stuff back in time to create old structures is mostly the name of the game, and it’s that with which you’ll need to understand in order to discover any form of success.

Ultimately, you wanna know what the deal is in The Entropy Centre – and ASTRA will help you uncover that.

“We were blown away by the sheer number of people who played and loved The Entropy Centre’s demo at NextFest, and as an expression of gratitude to our amazing community, we have decided to keep the demo live on Steam indefinitely,” said Playstack chief executive Harvey Elliott. He added: “We’ve always been huge believers in The Entropy Centre, and to see it receive overwhelming praise for its brilliant puzzles and razor-sharp humour is a wonderful validation. With today’s worldwide launch, we are delighted that players can finally experience the game for themselves.”

Our full review is in the works and should be live any day now, but until then, shoot over to your favourite digital store and take in a download of The Entropy Centre. It’s on the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as on PlayStation and PC.

Game Description:

The Entropy Centre is a mind-bending puzzle adventure where you reverse objects through time to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles and conundrums. Manipulate time to your will and solve ingeniously challenging puzzle rooms, each one taking you closer to the heart of a colossal space station in orbit of Earth. An extinction level event has set the world ablaze. You appear to be the last remaining person alive. Mankind’s only hope lies at the core of The Entropy Centre. Meet ASTRA, The Entropy Centre’s most advanced technical marvel. ASTRA is an AI-powered device that can scan an object’s spacetime chronology and move it through the past. Powers include rebuilding collapsing pillars to reheating cups of tea. She’s pretty cool. The truth behind The Entropy Centre’s imminent collapse, and the Earth’s demise, can be found at the heart of this sprawling dangerous facility. But will you accept the unfortunate truth that awaits? Deviously challenging with razor-sharp witty writing and outstanding voice acting performances, The Entropy Centre merges a brilliant puzzle game with an epic adventure.
