An uber colourful Vampire Survivors?

Grimorio of Games – developers behind Whispike Survivors on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch – aren’t trying to fool anyone. At least, we think they aren’t. Whispike Survivors is as clear a Vampire Survivors clone as you can get, and another reason for us to neglect all other facets of life, ready to dispose of thousands of enemies once again!

Farming Gone Wrong

Instead of the classic vampirical demons or undead hordes that dominate the genre, Whispike Survivors sees us fighting against a great deal of plant-life. As a plant yourself, you must travel across the screen (taking in a number of different maps along the way), merrily killing oncoming enemies. Take down enough foes, and you’ll be rewarded with a handsome upgrade to your character. Rinse and repeat until you enter your soily grave…

Such upgrades in Whispike Survivors on Xbox can include the Cenoj. It’s these which add a simple increase to attack damage. Or there are other items like the Web which can be used more tactically, slowing down enemies to ensure you put distance between them and yourself.

Grow Your Own Hero!

In a unique system that we are glad to see, Whispike Survivors allows players to unlock new heroes by growing them themselves. You can only take adult Whispikes into battle, and as such you’ll return regularly to your garden to grow more characters.

Placing different seeds next to each other may yield a hybrid character, which has abilities that mix and match different strengths. This mechanic will only add to the immense replayability present.

Whispike Survivors on Xbox is Available Now

Whispike Survivors is the latest in the Vampire Survivors mould, and we are sure it won’t be the last. The game is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. As well as on PS5, PS4, Switch and PC.

Find a copy of this title on Xbox for ÂŁ2.49, via the Xbox Store. And stay tuned for our review – we won’t be able to resist this one.

Game Description

Cultivate the strongest monster in this horde survivor farming game! Fight against waves of creatures to beef up your Whispike and use its seeds to create even stronger hybrids!

Whispike Survivors blends two trendy game genres: horde survivor and farm simulator.

In this game you will control one of Sword of the Necromancer’s monsters and make it fight other critters to make it the strongest! Were you defeated? Don’t worry! You can take your last monster’s seed, plant it and get it back…

Only “adult” Whispikes are eligible to fight, so you will have to wait and take care of your farm until they grow (or play with a default one in the meantime). Also, you might not get exactly what you expect: by planting seeds in neighboring slots you can get hybrids that combine the original seeds’ attributes!”
