A new game hits Game Pass Day One

We’re fast becoming accustomed to seeing games launch Day One onto Game Pass. But even now, we still get excited by it. That is the case today as a new gravity-bending action-platformer arrives on Game Pass, Xbox and Switch.

Previously having been made available across PlayStation and PC, it’s now time for Solar Ash from Heart Machine and Annapurna Interactive to make waves on Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The fact that it is doing so as a Day One Game Pass release helps amplify things.

A gravity-bending action-platformer

Solar Ash is a gravity-bending action-platformer. it has been put together by the same team as previously behind Hyper Light Drifter. That game first released on Xbox back in 2016.

In Solar Ash you’ll be found heading to the depths of sunken cities. You’ll get to go shooting across vast water shelves. And you’ll be going through dangerous lava zones and more. It’s here where you’ll assume the role of Rei, a Voidrunner who nimbly traverses through these dangerous biomes in an effort to save her planet from falling prey to the Ultravoid’s path of eternal hunger.

While traveling through the void, you’ll be tasked with helping Rei learn the truth about the beasts that roam this strange land. Oh yeah, and you’ll hope to uncover the mystery of the Starseed and Echo.

A GOTY Game Pass contender?

Solar Ash looks like it could well be one of those GOTY contenders come December. With Annapurna behind matters and a cracking premise ahead of them, we see no reason for this one to fail. Of course, a full review of Solar Ash on Xbox is coming – and it’ll be that which dictates the quality of this one.

In the meantime, you can grab a download of Solar Ash from the Xbox Store. It’s playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You’ll just need to decide whether you wish to splash out a bit of cash or make the most of Game Pass.

You’ll also find Solar Ash on PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Solar Ash on Xbox Game Description

From the creators of the award-winning Hyper Light Drifter comes the high-speed and gravity-bending world of Solar Ash.

Set amidst a surreal dreamscape filled with long-abandoned ruins of great civilizations past, you play as Rei, a Voidrunner determined to stop at nothing to save her planet from falling prey to the Ultravoid’s path of eternal hunger.

Fight through mobs of grotesque creatures, grind rails with sheer delight, grapple to wild heights, take down enormous bosses, and surf the ashen clouds of shattered, bygone worlds swallowed by the void.

In this highly stylized action adventure unlike no other, will Rei persevere and make her way through the deadly encounters of this ravenous void in order to save her home? Will she learn the truth about these massive beasts that roam this strange land and uncover the mysteries of the Starseed and Echo?

The answer to these questions, and more, awaits you in the Ultravoid.
