Just like many of the major horror films that have joined it, Dead by Daylight has a cult following of players. And, if the recent 8th Anniversary announcements were anything to go by, the cult of Dead by Daylight is in for a real treat.Â
Watch Dogs: Legion – Bloodline is easily better than the main game. Removing recruitable NPCs in favour of established characters means every interaction is more meaningful, both between characters and with the player themselves.
You can’t go wrong with Vector Unit; their quirky titles such as the Riptide series and Beach Buggy Racing always bring a smile to the players face. Their latest offering, MouseBot: Escape from CatLab subverts the domestic animal food chain into a laboratory-based platformer that releases on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC today.
A Plague Tale: Innocence is superb. If you’ve ever played the PlayStation exclusive The Last of Us, you will feel very at home with A Plague Tale. Already regarded as one of the best games of the last generation, the next-gen improvements solidify it into a must play-title.
Coming to PC Early Access soon and consoles in 2022 is Space Punks, the latest looter shooter vying for your attention. This time, it is Flying Wild Hog’s turn to develop their own title, the teams responsible for the Shadow Warrior series and Hard Reset Redux. With their pedigree of making fast-paced shooters, and with the power of Jagex Partners backing them up, Space Punks could well be your next favourite time-sink.
Despite its cutesy graphics that hark back to early Game Boy Advance titles, the shallow gameplay of Mina & Michi is rarely nostalgia-inducing. Puzzles are repetitive, enemies lack any invention and Mina is just a bit useless. It is just another game useful for achievement fodder that many will put down as quickly as they pick up once every achievement has been unlocked.
It might seem a bit premature to be talking about favourite games of the year, but do me a favour and just check your calendar please. You'll see that we’re in July, officially the second half of 2021. That means six months has passed of 2021, and we are closer to the start of 2022 than the end of 2020. With that in mind then, here are some of TheXboxHub’s favourite Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games of 2021 so far.
With the majority of sports on offer in Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 – The Official Video Game proving to be fun and easily accessible, it makes this latest Olympic Games game an easy recommendation for those looking for a party game to be enjoyed with friends. It might not quite have the charm of the Mario and Sonic Olympic Games variants, but it still manages to borrow a lot of what makes those games fun by toning down a bit of the emphasis on sports simulation.
We were recently invited to a hands-off presentation of upcoming action-RPG sequel ELEX II, shown a quick video of some early gameplay footage and given the chance to ask some questions afterwards. It wasn’t much, but it was enough to get us mildly excited for this upcoming release that offers a lot of promise.
Football might not be to everyone’s liking, but you know what is? Cheap, easy Gamerscore. It’s true! And here are some of the easiest Achievements that you may have missed from the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S games which have released or dropped onto Game Pass in the month of June 2021. Is football coming home? Not as quickly as it takes to unlock these cheevos.
Perhaps one of the more challenging titles from Lightwood Games, Mixups by POWGI will test players far more than previous titles. It’s a shame then that sometimes there isn’t a unique pun to reward you for completing the puzzle, but after spoiling players with hundreds of them in five previous games, we shouldn’t complain too much.
The Casino Collection may be lacking the social aspect when compared to The Four Kings Casino and Slots but it still presents a fun gambling simulator. Unfortunately, the restrictions on total number of rounds playable make it feel very stop and start; just as you get ready for a long session it is unfortunately over.
A lightning quick hedgehog is the perfect oxymoron for a video game character, and it is one that has served Sonic the Hedgehog well for a whopping 30 years now. And the blue blur has been through almost as much as a regular 30-year-old during that time: girlfriends, betrayals, facelifts and reinventions, Thanksgiving parades, cloning, cartoons, feature films, brand crossovers, peaks, troughs and everything in between.
It’s a shell of the version that is available in The Four Kings Casino and Slots – that I hasten to add is free-to-play – and doesn’t offer anything substantial over that version. There is easy Gamerscore to be had, and that’s about it. You would be better off spending the £4.19 it costs to buy Four Kings: Video Poker and put it towards microtransactions for the larger casino instead.
Anagrams, the undoing of many successful pub quizzes. Yet the latest release from Lightwood Games allows you to get some practice in for when your local restarts their quiz league. But, as with their more successful puzzle games, Mixups by POWGI on Xbox comes with a devilish twist…
Despite the short length, Gutwhale doesn’t feel too simple. There is a simplicity to it, but also a challenge with a sense of satisfaction when you finally hit the bottom. And there is a lot of replayability to it, even after you have illuminated the five blocks and achieved the ‘true’ ending.
As I've played almost every fishing experience that you can find on the big black box, I thought I'd attempt to rank them, nailing a list consisting of 5 of the best fishing games on Xbox One, if you will.
The Apex All-Stars Series come to an end this week in Forza Horizon 5, and as sure as night follows day, I’m here to provide you with the info you need to get your hands on shiny new cars.
There's aren't many (in fact, there are hardly any) boxing games on the market, especially those that utilise the power of current-gen consoles. But come this October all that will change as we get the opportunity to rule the ring in UNDISPUTED.Â
