Bringing pure evil point-and-clicking, Darkestville Castle launches on Xbox One, PS4. Switch version delayed

It was only a few short weeks back that we told you of how Darkestville Castle was gearing up to launch on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch. But the wait ends now, as launch of the humorous point-and-clicker takes place.

Available to purchase and download this very minute from the usual digital stores – Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, and eventually when the delay on the Switch version stops, the Nintendo eShop – Darkestville Castle sees you following the life of Cid, the Demon of Darkestville in a modern day take on the usual point-and-click fun and games we’ve fast grown to know and love.

Priced at £11.99 and running with a wicked art style, you’ll be left to follow Cid as he goes about being the most evil demon ever known; or at least, as he attempts to be the most evil demon the world has ever known. With a wacky story to take in and a whole ton of clever puzzling action to enjoy, if you’re familiar with the genre and have grown up with the likes of Monkey Island, this is certainly going to be something that is instantly appealing. As our full review of Darkestville Castle on Xbox One points out… “If nonsensical puzzles and point and click games are your thing, you can’t go wrong with a copy of Darkestville Castle.” Yes, there are occasions when the whole humour things misses the mark, and you’ll certainly need a specific type of mind in order to overcome some of the tests that need solving, but on the whole, a good old time can be had with Cid and Darkestville Castle.

If you wish to see what all the fuss is about then paying a visit to the Xbox Store in order to grab a download on Xbox One should be your nest course of action, whilst those on PS4 and Nintendo Switch should discover that both the PlayStation Store and Nintendo eShop (eventually, in the coming days) will deliver the same kind of options.

As always, let us know in the comments if this manic world is likely to be one you fall into. Chances are, once you do delve into the life of Cid, it’s going to be a struggle to get away again.

Game Description:

Dear Potential servant of chaos, Being evil isn’t always easy… But boy is it so much more fun than being a good guy! Having someone witty like you on my team could be useful during these not so dark times. Let me elaborate. Everything in Darkestville was fine and dandy: I was tormenting the town people, the town people were being tormented… It was a fair deal! Who could complain? Not me, that’s for sure! …until that moron, Dan Teapot, hired a group of professional demon hunters to banish me! Can you believe it? I don’t even know why he has a grudge against me. Maybe I burnt his house a couple of times, but I only did it because it was hilarious! Anyway. Help me in this adventure to best my foes and let’s make evil reign Darkestville once more! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Also by purchasing this game you are helping a noble cause, part of the money we receive will be used to enslave mankind… I mean… to clean the seas from pollution, create a sanctuary for the only Endangered Invisible Flamingo on this planet and other kind of noble sounding lies. Sincerely Evil, Cid The Demon of Darkestville.
