ghost trick phantom detective is an iconic puzzler…

If you were a big Nintendo fan back in 2010, you may remember Shu Takumi, of Ace Attorney fame, as the director behind the puzzler Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Now, Takumi and co have brought their cult hit of a game to modern consoles, with an HD remaster of the 2010 game and the release of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Solve Your Own Murder

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC platforms starts off in almighty fashion. A bullet is shot, our protagonist Sissel falls to the ground, and what begins is you, as a ghostly Sissel, attempting to solve your own murder.

It’s a brilliant premise, as you utilise your paranormal abilities to solve puzzles. By possessing objects and rewinding time, you’ll be figuring out solutions in a jiffy. Do so and you’ll get to progress the story and discover a lead suspect for the crime.

It’s almost like a cartoony Murdered: Soul Suspect, if anyone remembers!

HD Upgrades

Being a remaster releasing over a decade since the initial launch, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is looking all shiny and new with a host of visual and auditory upgrades. Remember, so far we have only been able to play this on the Nintendo DS or mobile platforms, so it is exciting to see this on consoles with a modern shine. If you’re on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or PC, you are sorted.

Additionally, Ace Attorney composer Yasumasa Kitigawa has composed some new music for this remaster. If you so wish, you can switch between this music, and the original, throughout the game.

Pull on Your Detective Cap in Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective on Xbox

The original comes with a Metacritic score within the mid to high 80s, and even higher user scores. As such, it seems like a no-brainer to experience Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective for yourself.

The game is now available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. Over on Xbox, you can get yourself a copy for £24.98 via the Xbox Store.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
