Zeroptian Invasion is an honest homage to Space Invaders and even Galaga, and it isn’t ashamed of paying tribute to the timeless origins of the shmup genre by providing a fun experience of its own.
Iron Snout is one of those games you look at, and think: "How on earth did this come about?". I can't say I'm complaining though, as it's an absolute blast.
The human mind is a fragile, beautiful and interesting place for developers to set their games.
A collection of memories that can form into huge unreal landscapes and vistas that the gamer can explore and wonder about. A favorite old book can be morphed into a mountain to scale, or the hero’s memories of a bird in the garden when they were little can become a giant beast that is guarding a secret entrance. Unknown Fate is the first game made by two brothers who have delivered mostly everything themselves, building an intriguing world that is ambitious and involving. But does it try too hard at times?
Velocity G reminds me of a flash game that I could play on an internet browser, and not a particularly good one at that. The only difference is that I have to pay money for this one.
Ever since Zen Studios acquired the necessary licenses to recreate real-world pinball tables for Pinball FX3, we’ve seen a varied selection of iconic machines from the Williams Bally library given a new lease of life in the digital world. Having already released Volume 1 and Volume 2 to a fairly positive reception, it was inevitable that there would be another trio of tables in the pipeline and now Williams Pinball: Volume 3 has arrived. Will this third bunch be able to satisfy the needs and wants of the modern gamer, or should only pinball wizards line up for some one on one time with this pack?
A collaborative effort between Ripstone, Lab42 and World Snooker themselves, Snooker 19 is trying to draw in the crowds. Does it succeed in that long pot, or has it left itself snookered behind the black?
Eschewing the "action" approach taken by their last release, Frane: Dragons' Odyssey, Revenant Saga sees a return to what, in my opinion, KEMCO does best… an old skool, retro styled, turn based RPG with anime overtones. And a proper story as well, even if the developers have used almost every one of the cliches from the Bumper Book of RPG Stories this time around.
Assassin's Creed III Remastered on Xbox One is a good game which is fun to play. The graphics may be significantly improved but this is essentially the same as it was seven years ago, albeit now up against much stronger competition.
It’s been a long time. A long, long time that has seen us Xbox gamers waiting patiently for Gang Beasts to finally make its way to Xbox One. It’s been so long in fact that the excitement for this one died down more than a year or so ago, after it had already released on PC and PS4. Now though it’s time to see if the wait was worth it. Gang Beasts is on Xbox everyone!
There’s a duality to life in Gleaner Heights. On the one hand is something perfectly pleasant. You’re a new farmer who has recently bought a rundown farm on the outskirts of Gleaner Heights, a sleepy village with a wide cast of characters.
But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. There’s a darkness that lies just below the surface in your new home.
Games like Monkey Island, Discworld, Broken Sword, and many more were the staple diet for us gamers back then. Now though the genre is back and in Trüberbrook we get taken on a sci-fi adventure set in 1960's Germany, before questioning the whole concept of the multiverse, the whole universe, and the bratwurst.
Every now and then I’ll go to Gamestop, see what Xbox 360 games they have, and buy a couple of the super cheap offerings. I love doing this as it's a great way to find games that I never had the chance to experience before, while also taking a look at how gaming itself has modernized and evolved over the past decade. Eternity: The Last Unicorn feels like one of those games that I would pick up. It feels and plays like a game lost in time, and while there is a certain charm to that feeling, it doesn't exactly succeed in many aspects that the developers may have hoped.
Riding on the wave of hype of the announcement of Borderlands 3, the first Borderlands has now been remade for Xbox One. Including all the DLC for the title, this is dubbed the Game of the Year Edition, and a more cynical reviewer than yours truly would suspect that this is a bit of a cash grab - pure and simple. With the original Borderlands already playable via Backwards Compatibility, do we need this game or is it a remaster too far? I took a trip into Fyrestone to find out.
