A Week In The Hub: 25th-31st May 2015

We have a feeling that was the quickest week in history. Not only has it flown by, but it’s been full to the rafters with decent Xbox news, reviews and videos. But which are the ones you can’t miss and why?

Well, the following five are our favourite news and review articles from the last seven days. Anything we missed?

1) Warner Bros release new Batman Arkham Knight gameplay trailer and screenshots

We make no apologies for including another Batman Arkham Knight trailer in our favourite articles from the last seven days. The problem is you see, anything Warner Bros release in regards for the Dark Knights upcoming Xbox One title is of the highest quality and just must be seen.

The ‘Time to go to War’ trailer continues on from last weeks ‘Officer Down’ and gives us an even better insight of to what is to come near the end of June.

2) Women’s National Teams are in the game with FIFA 16

It’s amazing how such a simple thing can set the world on fire. Not only have the gaming community been battling it out in regards the latest FIFA 16 announcement, but the news that EA will include Women’s National Teams into the game for the first time even made the main news headlines here in the UK. Some are massively for it, others…well…each to their own I guess.

Now, we’re more than happy to see the ladies join the gents and take their rightful place in one of the biggest videogames of the year and after the furore eight months or so ago over female videogame characters not being able to find a place in certain titles, we’re glad EA have taken the bold step to focus on the womens game.

3) Game of Thrones – A Telltale Games Series Episode Four: Sons of Winter – Review

We’ve been slightly disappointed with the Telltale Game adaptation of Game of Thrones. Big fans of their previous work, the series had struggled to capture our interest, even though we’ve been fully versed with the TV series.

That has however all changed with the release of the most recent episode. ‘Sons of Winter’ is by far the best episode the series has seen so far and so if you were getting slightly frustrated by the slow start, you’ll be glad that things have picked up considerably. Our review tells you why!

4) Lifeless Planet Review

Every now and then a game comes along that promises to grip you with its story and outstanding visuals. Lifeless Planet is one such game.

Bringing a totally unique gameplay experience alongside an intriguing story, some lovely visuals and a cracking soundtrack, Lifeless Planet should be something to at least have a little think about when you are next in the market for a new digital game. The game mechanics may not be completely up to scratch and many may dismiss it from the get go, but if you stick with it, Lifeless Planet will bring you plenty of memories.

5) Free Xbox Games With Gold titles for June 2015 announced!

There is not a person on this planet who doesn’t look forward to receiving free stuff and the Xbox Games With Gold promotional scheme is something all Xbox owners look to with interest. The free games for June don’t disappoint…at least not if you are a 360 owner.

With two of the biggest names being gifted for free to all Xbox Live Gold members, 360 gamers should be more than content with the offerings in place. In fact, both Thief and Just Cause 2 are two games that we would still happily pay for.

However, if you’re running on Xbox One then things are a little less certain. With Pool Nation FX going free yet again, One owners are instantly put on the back foot. A brand new title in the form of Massive Chalice doesn’t particularly inspire confidence either.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
