Working with 20th Century Studios, Tindalos Interactive and Focus Entertainment have today announced the release date for Aliens: Dark Descent, dropping a commentary-fuelled gameplay trailer for good measure.

Working as a strategic, real-time squad-based tactical action game, Aliens: Dark Descent will launch worldwide on June 20th 2023, playable on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Following the marmite release of Aliens: Fireteam Elite (a game we loved, dropping a a 4.5/5 score and some hype surrounding the campaign, the presentation and the non-stop action), this one is set in the iconic Alien universe, as players get the chance to follow a squad of Colonial Marines as they investigate a Xenomorph outbreak on the Planet Lethe.

You’ll be tasked with using your wits and tactical abilities to survive against the Xenomorph threat. Expect a host of secrets to unfold, as well as some brand new threats playing out.

When Aliens: Dark Descent releases in June, it’ll feature a squad-based tactical combat system where players will need to give orders to their squad members in real time. The world will be large, allowing players to utilise a variety of equipment and abilities to stay one step ahead of the Xenomorph threat.

The first gameplay trailer was also revealed today, and it gives a sneak glimpse into the intense combat and atmosphere that you can expect from Aliens: Dark Descent when it hits Xbox, PlayStation and PC. The trailer also features commentary from the game’s developers, who discuss their vision and how they are bringing the Alien universe to life.

If you loved Fireteam Elite, then Aliens: Dark Descent is sure to be a must-play. Hell, it’s going to drag in fans of the Alien franchise and tactical action games too. Expect to see release on June 20th 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.

For now though, do not miss that trailer.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
