How long has it been since we last has the chance to really feel the force of the Alien universe? Well, that would be way back in 2014 with the launch of Alien: Isolation. But fear not – or fear lots – for Aliens: Fireteam is on the way.

A brand new cooperative third person survival shooter that is fully entrenched in the Alien universe, Aliens: Fireteam will be found covering all bases with launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC through Steam in the summer of 2021.

In creation by a veteran team of devs at Cold Iron Studios, and with 20th Cenutury Games in tow, Aliens: Fireteam is set some 23 years after the original Alien trilogy, as you are tasked with joining up with others in a desperate fight to eradicate a Xenomorph threat.

Fireteam drops players into the role of a Colonial Marine happily kicking around aboard the USS Endeavor. After recently being tasked with answering a distress call from the outer colonies, you have been deployed to overrun facilities, abandoned ruins and strange alien landscapes all as you battle terrifying enemies. The action is set across four campaigns with two friends or AI teammates in place, with everything pushed along with stunning visuals, realistic environments, powerful weapons, futuristic equipment, and an eerie soundscape that will heighten new Alien storylines across a series of replayable missions that evoke and expand upon the blockbuster films.

“With Aliens: Fireteam, you and your friends will experience stepping into the boots of a squad of hardened Colonial Marines fighting in the ultimate battle for survival,” said Craig Zinkievich, Head of Cold Iron Studios. “This is the action game Aliens fans have been waiting for – hordes of different Xenomorphs swarming over ceilings and across walls, surrounding your team and striking from every angle. Work together, customize your character, utilize tons of weapons and gear and…well, you just might get your fireteam out alive.”

The enemies look to be the focus of events here and Aliens: Fireteam will throw more than 20 intelligent enemy types your way – from Xenomorphs to Weyland-Yutani Synthetics. That will mean you’ll need to utilize cover tactics and master team strategy to eradicate extraterrestrial threats that swarm through doors and vents, scramble across walls and ceilings, and strike from darkness with uncanny ferocity. There will be no less than 5 character classes in plae, an expansive arsenal of customizable weapons and mods, character progression, and innovative advancement systems that should help even the odds in this heart-pounding shooter

The teams behind it reckon that Aliens: Fireteam is set to deliver another dimension of co-op survival shooters, especially when you consider the unique Challenge Card system will let players mutate each mission, offering a new experience with every playthrough. We think it all sounds great.

“We’re thrilled to be working with the team at Cold Iron Studios on this new chapter in the Alien franchise,” said Josh Valensi, Executive Producer, 20th Century Games. “Aliens: Fireteam expands the story into new corners of the universe, as the Colonial Marines aboard the USS Endeavor desperately battle to survive a universe of sinister corporate secrets, ancient alien ruins, and deadly Xenomorph legions. Alien fans should prepare for a Xenomorph fight like no other.”

We’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date with any Alien: Fireteam action ahead of launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC via Steam in the summer. For now though, hit up that trailer…
