It’s the game that concludes the original story, letting the team at Elden Pixels crack on with the next chapter in their development history, and today we see Alwa’s Awakening finally come to Xbox One.
Previously available pretty much everywhere and on every format – well, at least PS4, Nintendo Switch, and as a fan-made NES edition – Alwa’s Awakening is now on Xbox One, with a £8.39 price point thrusting you straight into an 8-bit adventure that will have you reminiscing about the good old days with every movement.
Coming from the team at Elden Pixels, Alwa’s Awakening originally started out life as a new NES title, before seeing the draw of modern consoles take hold. This Xbox One edition is the last in the line of current gen releases and will see you attempting to work your way through a huge Metroidvania-styled world with just a magic staff for company.
Thankfully magic staffs turn out to be pretty handy and as you try to free the land of Alwa will be found solving puzzles, fighting enemies and taking down huge bosses. With stunning retro pixel art, a chiptune soundtrack pushing things on, and enough charm to make you think you were actually back in the golden age, Alwa’s Awakening is certainly one you should be considering.
