Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is on Xbox, PlayStation and PC

Part compelling narrative, part dynamic combat system, all action RPG. The latest from DON’T NOD and Focus Entertainment is a bit of a stunner. Are you ready for Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden?

Available right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic, you choose!) is Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden. Now, seeing as this has been put together by the story champions at DON’T NOD, it’s safe to say that the tale playing out will be a strong one. But it’s well accompanied by a variety of other elements too, mostly a deep combat system and some serious action-RPG mechanics.

Action RPG, story and combat

It’s priced at £49.99 from the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S. This is one of those games you won’t be able to play on Xbox One though. Dive in and you’ll find yourself taking on the role of a ghost hunter or two, as a host of challenging decisions await. And for every action you take, there will be profound consequences playing out – for both those still living, and the ones who are dead.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden whisks us off to the world of Antea and Red; lovers, Banishers, spirit hunters, protectors of all people. It’s here where the land of New Eden comes to the fore. A world full of occult dangers and tough decisions. Fighting back against the most nightmarish of creatures will be part of what brings Antea and Red together. But there’s a much more pressing issue kicking around in the background. And nope, we’re not spoiling it.

Key features and review

We didn’t spoil it in our full review of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden on Xbox either. What we will tell you is that this one is well worth a play, with a 4.5/5 review score more than enough for you to need to part with your cash.

Dive in to Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden on Xbox, PlayStation or PC and you’ll discover a world complete with the following key features…

  • Play as both Antea and Red, and battle supernatural forces with magic, weapons and spiritual powers
  • Unlock new gear and abilities to unleash the full power of the Banishers
  • Uncover the ancient secrets and hidden mysteries of a mystical, lore-rich world
  • Characteristic of renowned studio DON’T NOD, make meaningful and morally ambiguous choices that affect the story, the world and the fate of all characters, dead or alive

Become one of the Banishers

Sold? Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is on the Xbox Store, fully optimised for Xbox Series X|S. You’ll also find it on the stores of PlayStation and PC.

Further comes a little Wanderer Set DLC pack. This will set you back a mere £3.29 but gives access to some proper kit. A Wanderer Outift (increases your melee damage) and Cortador and Ascua (increases Red’s combo damage). If you’re sold on Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, we’d suspect you should pick up this DLC offering.

Let us know what you think though. The comments are below. And if you want to know more about the game, hit up the latest trailer. It breaks down the gameplay in the best possible way. There’s the full launch trailer too.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden Description

New Eden, 1695. Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith are lovers and Banishers, ghost-hunters who vowed to protect the living from the threat of lingering ghosts and specters. Following a disastrous last mission, Antea is fatally wounded, becoming one of the spirits she loathes. In the haunted wilds of North America, the couple desperately searches for a way to liberate Antea from her new plight.

Immerse yourself in a beautiful, intimate and powerful story between two fated lovers. As Banishers, enter the lives of New Eden’s communities and solve haunting cases in a mystical, lore-rich world plagued with supernatural creatures and ancient secrets. Use your wits or combine Antea’s spiritual powers and Red’s arsenal to defeat and banish the souls tormenting the living.

Challenging decisions will lay on your path, dramatically impacting your story and the fate of New Eden’s inhabitants—be they living people or wandering souls. How much will you compromise your ghost-hunting vow for the sake of your lover who became one of such spirits?
