Become an interstellar archaeologist with Faraday Protocol

The first person and story driven aspects are hard to ignore in Faraday Protocol. But so is the opportunity to become a interstellar archaeologist. And honestly, that’s all we really ever want.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and Steam, Faraday Protocol is a first person adventure that has been put together by the Red Koi Box team, as you take on the role of interstellar archaeologist Raug Zeekon, as he heads off on a mysterious quest.

The space station OPIS is your port of call, if only so you can attempt to uncover exactly what has happened to the place, and how the enigmatic AI, IRIS has a role. You’ll be armed/equipped with your magical Bia-Tool – a piece of alien tech that allows Raug to absorb and redistribute energy, helping manipulate and activate all manner of pieces of machinery found on the space station.

It’s the old staples of orange and blue that come to the fore here – not quite in Portal terms – but it’s these which will help you re-route the space station, solving the puzzles that are found within.

You’ll need to make the most of all mechanics which are on offer though, uncovering collectibles and admiring the glories of the OPIS as you go.

Key features include:

  • Puzzle your way through the mysterious space station OPIS
  • Experience a unique blend of Sci-Fi and Art déco
  • Use the Bia-Tool to absorb and redistribute energy
  • Unravel the many mysteries of the station and its governing A.I. “IRIS”
  • Find hidden collectibles that reward especially attentive players

If you wish to know how this all plays out, hold tight for our full review of Faraday Protocol on Xbox Series X|S. It’s coming real soon.

Should you however wish to take a punt, you’ll find the game present on the Xbox Store, the PlayStation Store, the Nintendo eShop and good old Steam. It’s kicking around at £20.99 on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and should be similarly priced on other formats too.

Game Description:

Faraday Protocol is a first-person, story-driven puzzle game that will test your curiosity and keen perception. You are Raug Zeekon: interstellar archeologist from planet Cunor. You have been sent by your company to investigate the source of a mysterious signal coming from an unexplored star system. As you deploy from your spaceship, you’ll find yourself in a new and unknown environment. A voice will welcome you to “Opis” – the mysterious place where you have landed. Opis is structured with a succession of puzzles and trials you’ll need to conquer in order to keep exploring. Solve intricate puzzles by re-distributing energy through the use of your Bia-Tool and demonstrate your abilities during the stations’ challenges. The mysteries of Opis are hidden within its core. Who built it? When and why? And where are they now? Investigate lore elements spread throughout the station, interact with the governing A.I. “Iris”, and expose secrets lost in the millennia.
