Yeah, we know there are a ton of Overcooked! clones on the market, but when something works so damn well, it’s inevitable that others will try and muscle in. But Bish Bash Bots is trying something different, taking that Overcooked! recipe and throwing in some tower defense- styled brawls.

Announced by Firestoke and Catastrophic_Overload is Bish Bash Bots, a new tower defense, strategic Overcooked! mash-up. It’s coming to Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Nintendo Switch, later in 2023.

A mash-up that works?

Bish Bash Bots will play out as a tower defense game, but from there it attempts new ideas. Frantic brawling will be front and centre, as the dev teams behind it thrust players into a cartoony future world. It’s here where machines have nabbed some technology from the human race, turning on them. You may guess that it is up to you to try and save the world.

Playing out as a 1-4 player experience, either locally or via online worlds, Bish Bash Bots looks the business. It’ll release with 32 levels in place, spread across 8 different biomes as players look to overcome a heap of environmental hazards. Expect to be taken through a jungle, over a volcano and more.

A new tower defender

The most unique thing in Bish Bash Bots though will be the twist it puts on the usual formula. See, this is a game that will drop new mechanics and features aplenty, ensuring things are kept fresh. Turrets, gadgets, upgrades and more will need to be worked, as you attempt to find the strategy that will help you through the battle.

We’re pretty sure there will be a ton of mayhem and even more madness going on in this one.

“Bish Bash Bots is a big step up for us as a studio – delving into the world of 3D, online AND releasing on PlayStation, Xbox, Switch as well as PC! Phew!”, said James Letherby, co-founder of Catastrophic_Overload. “We are super happy to be able to bring you something new and hopefully exciting. As lovers of co-op we can’t wait for you to bash some bots with your friends.”

“Bish Bash Bots is shaping up for a late summer 2023 launch,” said Firestoke CEO Paul Farley. “It was one of the first games we signed when founding Firestoke and the partnership with the talented team at Catastrophic_Overload has been a lot of fun. Not only are they a super creative team, they also have a keen understanding of what players want. They’ve been able to channel their passion for the game into something that is at the same time both familiar and yet unique in the tower defense genre. Their sense of fun and innovation definitely shines through with all that Bish Bash Bots has to offer!”

When can I play?

You can’t play yet, but Bish Bash Bots is due to release on Xbox (expect Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S), PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can wishlist on Steam right now. Being able to play ‘later in 2023’ is all we have for the moment, but take in the trailer to help pass the time.

As always, let us know if this is one you’ll be looking to play.
