Bounce to your Heart’s Content in Jump King

In the immortal words of Van Halen, House of Pain, Kris Kross and err… Girls Aloud/The Pointer Sisters, Jump! And what better way to do so than in Jump King on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

A throwback to the 16-bit era, “there is a smoking hot babe at the top” of a really tall tower. But rather than simply climb up the stairs, you as the Jump King need to get to the top using the platforms in this 2D platformer.

Unlike other platformers though, this one features no enemies to pounce on and defeat. Instead, your only enemy is gravity; be prepared to fall down over and over again. And then over and over again, some more. And once more just to be sure. Jump King is a hardcore platformer with a difficulty reserved only for the likes of Dark Souls and Sekiro. Without referring to Jump King being the Dark Souls of 2D platforming, its difficulty would suggest that it is.

Jump King has a simpler control scheme though; so simple in fact it only requires the one button to jump. Tap it for a shorter jump, hold it and Jump King can easily spring over entire chasms. And you will need all the jump lengths in between this range to conquer this tower.

Much like the Steam version that released prior to the Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch versions, this package comes with all the post-release content which includes New Babe+ and Ghost of the Babe. New Babe+ is a remix of the base game with new characters and dangers to contend with and Ghost of the Babe is a completely different adventure as your quest this time is for a ghostly apparition.

Featuring a lovely pixel art aesthetic – not to mention a homely 4:3 ratio – Jump King is now available from the Xbox Store for Xbox One, priced at £10.74. You’ll also find it on PS4 and Nintendo Switch. For just how difficult it is, check out our review and if you have any further questions, hit us up in the comments section.
