When the over-the-top arcade style brawler arrives in September, WWE 2K Battlegrounds will bring with it a load of wild game modes to enable no-holds-barred action. There’s sure to be a mode to entice you in as almost any match or concept you can think of in the wrestling world is probably present. Except the aptly titled Brawl for All, because that’s definitely not on the list. So, what actually is?
First up is Campaign Mode. Throw down and deliver beat-downs in this single-player story mode told through a comic art style as you add to your stable of WWE Superstars to overcome the upcoming challenges. Team up with Paul Heyman and Stone Cold Steve Austin as you travel the globe in search of new Superstars to represent an all-new WWE brand. You get to play as one of the seven newly created Superstars, such as Bolo Reynolds and Jessica Johnson, as you travel across several regions battling WWE Superstars, achieving campaign goals and unlocking various WWE Superstars, power-ups and items along the way.
In Exhibition Mode, brawl with your friends and family, with up to four-player action online or on the couch in your favorite match types, including:
- One-on-One
- Tag Team
- Triple Threat
- Fatal Four Way
- Steel Cage Match
- Royal Rumble
And then there’s the King of The Battleground Mode, where the aim is to battle to become the Last Man (or woman) Standing as you and up to seven other online players burn it down, trying to toss one another out of the ring. The longer you stay in the arena, the higher your score will climb and the second you send someone flying, another Superstar waiting outside the ring enters the fray.
An Online Tournament Mode enables some online action in return for rewards in a variety of time-limited tournaments featuring a wide range of win conditions. Keep an eye out because you never know when a new Battlegrounds tournament might be kicking off. Last, but not least, the Battleground Challenge Mode, which sees you fighting from the bottom all the way to the top. Create your own WWE Superstar and overcome the insurmountable odds stacked against you.
WWE 2K Battlegrounds will launch on 18th September for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia. Which mode are you most looking forward to?
