Manic Mechanics is coming to Xbox, PlayStation and PC

Honed in Overcooked!, the chaos of the couch co-op scene has mostly focused on the kitchen, rustling up tasty treats in the process. But it seems as if the gaming industry has decided it’s time to break out of the kitchen and onto the road. It’s with that in which 4J Studios will be looking to excel with Manic Mechanics – especially now it has a release date for Xbox, PlayStation and PC.

Initially launched on Nintendo Switch back in July 2023, and looking to go up against the likes of Speed Crew, Manic Mechanics will release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 and PC (Steam) real soon. How soon? March 7th 2024, soon!

More chaotic co-op

A high octane party experience from 4J Studios (they previously behind console versions of Minecraft and multiple Bethesda games), Manic Mechanics will come to the new console and PC formats with additional competition in place. It is all thanks to fan feedback gathered from the Nintendo Switch drop.

It’s in here where 4J Studios has added a number of new features and content. They are looking to go building on the chaos of the original base game. Most notable is the incorporation of a ‘Versus’ mode to complement the local and online co-op gameplay. Further to that is the addition of competitive mode. The all-formats release also includes a whole-new neighbourhood, new characters and entertaining twists to some of the most popular levels.

Not up to speed with the game? Well, in Manic Mechanics, up to four players pull on their overalls and head to the auto-obsessed Octane Isle. It is here where they’ll be found looking to make a name for themselves as travelling mechanics. Players challenge the Master Mechanics who rule the island to prove their crew is worthy of joining the mechanics guild.

What this plays out as is a race against the clock to repair as many cars (trucks, choppers, tractors, mini-subs and UFOs…) as possible. The faster the mechanics work, the more chaos is unleashed. And yes, as a chaotic cooperative adventure, expect intricate mechanical processes to be hindered. Fuel spills, exploding tyres, short-circuiting robots, stampeding cows and even alien abductions will be in place. All with hilariously chaotic consequences.

Manic Mechanics comes from 4J Studios

“When Manic Mechanics first arrived on Switch, we were mostly asked two questions… ‘Is it going to be on other platforms?’ and ‘Can you add a competitive mode?’ I’m delighted that I can now answer ‘Yes!’ to both,” says 4J Studios‘ Chairman, Chris van der Kuyl. “The new features the team have added have made an amazing game even better and I’m delighted that it will now be available to the widest possible audience.”

Manic Mechanics will be available on the Xbox, PlayStation and PC stores (Steam for PC) on March 7th 2024. The Nintendo Switch version will be enhanced with new game modes and extra content that same day. Existing players receiving a free update as they go.

Will you be grabbing for your toolbelt and heading to Octane Isle?
