The eastasiasoft team have been prolific in terms of publishing games lately, with the likes of Void Gore and #SinucaAttack coming to mind. They’re two completely different types of experiences though, and the newest arrival offers yet another type entirely by trapping you in a spooky 2D world. Overcoming logical puzzles provides you with the best chance to escape in Retrace: Memories of Death on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.

Retrace: Memories of Death places you in the role of Freya, who’s partaking in the antics of a ghost tour with her friends. It’s all going swimmingly, until something goes awry, at which point they end up captive in a weird and unforgiving alternate dimension where death awaits. Frantically seeking a way out of this terrifying environment, Freya taps into an ability to rewind time, enabling her to try new paths and switch-up her choices while attempting to survive. 

Get ready to explore the atmospheric 2D realm that’s composed of pixel art and full of intriguing portraits, but also prepare to run into numerous locked doors along the way. Only logic will help you solve the puzzles preventing progression, while a bit of cunning wit is necessary for a triumphant outcome in regards to the action-oriented sequences. Should that not be enough to worry about, Freya’s decision-making could affect relationships within the group, for better or worse.
