Have a gander as the Mighty Goose runs and guns to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC

We’re torn as to whether we hate geese more than swans, or swans more than geese. It may be due to our locale, but heaven knows we’ve been chased by both more times than we care to mention. But if there’s anything that is going to be able to switch up our love for the most aggressive of waterfowl, it’s going to be the launch of Mighty Goose on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC.

If you’re looking to have a gander at what Mighty Goose is able to deliver, then you’ll be excited to hear that it’s available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC. Just be aware of one thing from the off – this is no sequel to Untitled Goose Game.

Priced at £16.74 from the Xbox Store, Mighty Goose comes about via the Blastmode and PLAYISM teams as they bring some over-the-top, run-and-gun action the way of players. And yep, as you’ve probably guessed, that action places full focus on the Mighty Goose.

Ready to waddle and gun their way through anything that dares take sights, Mighty Goove is a heavily fortified goose who can just so happen be able to utilise a host of weapons and upgrades. With five stages of mayhem awaiting, you’ll need to help old goosey use them too, making the most of Sprint Boots and Chonker Bombs in the process.

Why? Well, Mighty Goose is looking to take the fight to the Void King, and we reckon they’ve got absolutely no qualms about instigating this fight. Due to this you’ll find yourself going up hordes of minions and machines, all powered forth thanks to the screams of that Void King. Thankfully you’ll have friends – it seems geese CAN be nice – and by rescuing companions and placing their abilities under the secure wing of Mighty, will be able to team up in a real goose and gander way.

Delivered through the medium of pixel art, and running a highly explosive soundtrack that has been put together by Dominic Ninmark (Blazing Chrome), this is sure to be one weird, outlandish goose run.

“Combining the goose character with something as action-packed as Metal Slug seemed like a really funny idea.” said Richard Lems, founder of Blastmode. “Mighty Goose is a modern take on the throwback run-and-gun of the 90’s, combining funny characters and crazy encounters with solid gameplay and fluidity of a modern game.”

Features include:

  • Fast-paced run-and-gun experience with tight controls.
  • Battle against screen filling bosses that will test your skill, timing, and dodging
  • Customize your playing style using a combination of upgrade chips, secondary weapons and assist characters.
  • Pilot devastating war-machine vehicles to decimate large groups of enemies.
  • Beautifully crafted vibrant pixel art worlds, vehicles and characters.
  • An amazing soundtrack featuring crunchy synth-rock and funky jazz-fusion melodies. Composed by Dominic Ninmark (Moonrider, Blazing Chrome, Gravity Circuit).

Let’s just hope this one doesn’t turn out to be a wild goose chase. Our upcoming full review will be able to confirm things.  In the meantime though, you’ll find a download of Mighty Goose available from the Xbox Store, PlayStation Store, Nintendo eShop and Steam.

Game Description:

Assume the role of Mighty Goose and bring the fight to the Void King. This galaxy conquering monarch commands a vast army of minions and mechanised monsters. Dealing with these baddies means traveling to distant worlds and facing all kinds of dangers. But not to worry, this is no problem for the legendary Mighty Goose! Mighty Goose is a fast paced run & gun shooter starring a bounty hunter Goose. Use epic weapons and devastating warmachines to battle against screen filling bosses and hordes of enemies! Apart from that solid arcade formula, the game has a ton of crazy weapons, companions, upgrades and secrets for you to discover.
