Fancy taking in an alternate cold war experience? One that promises to deliver on the guns, gadgets, and gameplay front? You’d do well to keep an eye on the development of I.G.I. Origins. Particularly now that it has been confirmed for Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Coming from Toadman Interactive and Antimatter Games, I.G.I. Origins promises to throw you into an alternate 1980s where Cold War spy conflicts are the main focus. With Antimatter Games previously having dealt with Rising Storm and Red Orchestra, the team behind it certainly know a thing or two about the shooting genre and that is just one of the reasons why this is such a hotly anticipated title.
Guns, gadgets, covert gameplay and a ton of 80s nostalgia are set to rip up the world of I.G.I. Origins when it comes to Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2021, all without forgetting about the narrative side of things either. Complete with plenty of cinematic flair, I.G.I. Origins puts the player in the role of a male or female super spy with MI6, before going on a high-stakes thrill ride across the globe. Expect to take in an iconic 80s look and feel, with a do-or-die chance to redeem your reputation as a secret agent… and to save the world.
“The teams at Toadman and Antimatter has fond memories of playing the original games back in the day,” says Robin Flodin, CEO of Toadman Interactive. “We are very happy to bring take the franchise to the next level, and it’s a perfect fit for the talented guys at Antimatter Games, a key studio in the Toadman group.”
For now you would do well to check out the teaser trailer below, but then keep all eyes peeled for further coverage of the development of I.G.I. Origins on Xbox One, PS4 and PC when we have it.
Edit: I.G.I. was originally released in 2000 and the first two games sold over a million units combined. The games were developed by Innerloop Studios and the first game was published by Eidos Interactive, the second by Codemasters.
Showing my age, I remember a shooter back in 2000 called Project I.G.I. and followed in 2003 by I.G.I. 2 covert strike.
Wonder if this has anything to do with those who were part of Innerloop studios?
Absolutely perfect timing (strangely, as in to the minute!), but I’ve just dropped a small edit in to this article. Seems you could well be right 🙂
