jurassic world evolution 2

It’s been more than three years since Frontier Developments released the brilliant Jurassic World Evolution to the gaming scene. And in a world that moves at such pace, that feels like a lifetime. Now though it’s time to head back to the park with Jurassic World Evolution 2.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC, Jurassic World Evolution 2 has some big dino-sized boots to fill. You see, the original game was one of joy and whilst it wasn’t without problems, the overall experience it allowed was one that verged on greatness. With the sequel, Jurassic World Evolution 2, will once again open up the park doors to budding rangers, as they look to create the wildest parks imaginable, full with attractions, shops, decor and, yep, dinosaurs. Lots and lots of dinosaurs.

This time around Jurassic World Evolution 2 brings to life more than 75 prehistoric species, including those that take to the skies and others that live in the water. No more will you be restricted to just the big names from the dino-era, but now there’s a bit of everything and more to satisfy. When you throw in the chance to bioengineer and customise your favourite beasts too, switching up colours and their traits, and this really is a dino keepers’ dream.

Of course, this is not just any old park builder though – this is Jurassic World Evolution 2. And with that name attached, big things are expected. Frontier have ensured it comes with those too, including an original Jurassic World narrative that is set after the events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. It comes with the most iconic characters from the films too, with full voice work handled by Jeff Goldbum and Bryce Dallas Howard for starters.

From there, all new features and ideas, along with four engaging game modes will set you on the right path. There’s a career and narrative to take in, there’s the creativity found in Sandbox, a Challenge mode to keep you on your toes and the opportunity to play through some of the key moments from the film, running as ‘what-if’ scenarios. When you consider these are ripped straight from the five movies and well, Jurassic fans will be in their elements.

In all, those key features sit as follows…

  • An Original Jurassic World Story – Immerse yourself in a compelling and original Jurassic World narrative set after the earth-shattering events of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Work alongside iconic characters from the films, including Dr. Ian Malcolm (voiced by Jeff Goldblum) and Claire Dearing (voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard), and lead the efforts to control, conserve, and contain wild dinosaurs now rampaging across the USA.
  • Create your own Jurassic World – Take control with deeper management tools and creative options. Construct a range of customisable new buildings and hire new Scientists, and shape your park to meet the needs of both your guests and dinosaurs. Unleash your creativity in Sandbox mode, or test your skills in Challenge mode as you deal with diverse locations and environmental calamities.
  • Play with Chaos Theory – Play through key moments of your favourite films – with a twist. Experience ‘what-if’ scenarios from iconic Jurassic World and Jurassic Park films, each level set across eras and locations from all five movies. Dive into the Jurassic World franchise and see how events unfold when you take control.
  • Discover Awe-Inspiring Dinosaurs – Over 75 different prehistoric species come to life in Jurassic World Evolution 2, including highly requested flying and marine reptiles. These animals feel more alive than ever as they preside over territory, fight for dominance, and react intelligently to the world around them. Use bioengineering to customise dinosaurs with bold new colours, and alter their genomes to unlock traits.

Like what you’re reading? Well, you’ve got a decision to make as to whether you pick up the Standard Edition of the game for £49.99, or the Deluxe Edition for £59.99. Grab the latter and expect to be treated to five additional species in the form of Geosternbergia, Attenborosaurus, Pachyrhinosaurus, Huayangosaurus and Megalosaurus, along with new building signs and vehicles skins. Alternatively you can add the Deluxe Upgrade in at a later date.

We’re expecting big things from Jurassic World Evolution 2 on Xbox and will be sure to deliver our review thoughts as soon as we can. For now though you’ll find the game downloadable and playable on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC. It’s the Xbox Store which is our favourite.

Let us know which of the dinosaurs you’ll be adding in to your park first. And no, we don’t want to see it filled with T-rex…

Game Description:

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
