It seems like the Xbox is finally starting to really understand Japanese games. The Danganronpa series has recently been added to Xbox Game Pass, and the Persona series is coming soon. These may be major Japanese series but another that is making a name for itself recently has received a sequel today. AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Nirvana Initiative is out today on Xbox, PC, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation.
Set six years after the original AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES, another gruesome murder has happened. This time around, the right half of a corpse is discovered. The left half isn’t found until another six years later. Nicknamed the Half Body serial-killings, can Mizuki and Ryuki solve them before more bodies are found?
Mizuki is the adoptive daughter of Date, who now has an artificial intelligence implanted in her left eye. She is accompanited by Ryuki, who also has an eyeball partner. These are called Aiba and Tama respectively and the four of them are investigating a plot known as the Nirvana Initiative.
AI: THE SOMNIUM FILES Nirvana Initiative features the same gameplay as before as you investigate crime scenes, interrogate suspects, perform reconstructions and attempt to piece together this sci-fi murder mystery. Using your AI eye, you can use a feature called Wink Psync to read a person’s mind. And of course, you can delve into Somnium to find out those vital clues.
AI: The SOMNIUM FILES Nirvana Initiative is out now on the Xbox Store, priced at £49.99. European fans need to wait a bit longer however, as it is due out on our shores on 8th July. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere title so pick up your progress on PC and transfer your save data between PC and Xbox. Or, wait around for our review, it is coming soon. Once we find the other half of our reviewer, it’s gone missing.
