GET OVER HERE! That’s the first thing that comes to mind when thinking ahead to the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11, that is of course until the excitement at realising it’s only a few months away sets in and we realise that we’ll soon have hands on with one of the years most exciting games. Whilst that much is true for many people though, one thing is true for everyone, very little was known about Mortal Kombat 11 – until today!

After a successful opening video premiered the game back at The Game Awards late last year – provided you look past the dreadful song that was playing alongside it – many have been waiting in anticipation for January 17th 2019 in which more details were promised for the upcoming brawler. Today is that day though and to keep all the excitement to a maximum, we’ve compiled a list of everything announcement you need to know about Mortal Kombat 11.

First up is the introduction of Ronda Rousey to the Mortal Kombat franchise, and no matter what your thoughts are on the current WWE Raw Women’s Champion and former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, it’s hard to argue she’s not a good fit. Sadly, we won’t be seeing the entire Rowdy Ronda Rousey take to the fight in Mortal Kombat 11, but we will see her fullfill the role of the new voice of fan favourite fighter Sonya Blade.

“I’ve been a lifelong Mortal Kombat™ fan, and Sonya Blade was the first kick-ass, female video game character that I related to,” said Ronda Rousey. “Now I get to voice her in Mortal Kombat™ 11. It’s a dream come true to be a part of the Mortal Kombat™ franchise that I grew up playing.”

Next up is something we’ve all been waiting for and rather than just here us talk about it, why not just sit in amazement and take a look for yourself – it’s the first Gameplay Reveal Trailer titled You’re Next! It is well worth a watch.

“We’re thrilled to showcase Mortal Kombat™ 11 and reveal the gameplay, new features and epic characters to the fans,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “We have an amazing community, and it’s an honour to share this celebration of the Mortal Kombat™ franchise with all of our passionate fans around the world.”

Whether you’re in it for the story, or you simply love the blood curdling screams of that well placed FATALITY! Mortal Kombat has a narrative to keep you enjoying both. This time, players will be jumping into an all-new twist to the tale as they take on Kronika, a female boss character – a first for the series – who’s time-bending powers as the Keeper of Time and creator of Existence threaten to truly change the fate of the universe.

What’s better than an all-new and exciting villain? All new and exciting playable characters of course! As of today, Geras, an honourable servant to Kronika, is now known as the first of the new fighters hitting the Mortal Kombat 11 roster this time around. Joining his time-bending powers are none other than series icons Baraka, Raiden, Scorpion, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero and Skarlet – a badass collection of fighters with a badass collection of Fatalities.

And it is those Fatalities which brings us onto the next point in todays showcase, an all-new Fatalities trailer – Drum Roll please!

Fashion has never been high on the Mortal Kombat list, but in Mortal Kombat 11 that’s all changing. Not only will players be able to fully customise characters with different armour components, much like that seen in NetherRealm Studios other hit fighter, Injustice 2, but should you want to really show the love for the upcoming fighter then you may want to look into the six custom trainer designs inspired by Mortal Kombat 11 that can be found on the MK Kollective website from ambassador and top artist Mache.

Last but not least, what is the one thing we all love when it comes to a quality physical copy of our favourite games? That’s right, you guessed it – steelbook cases! Should you decide to splash the big cash this year on the Mortal Kombat 11 Kollectors Edition then not only will you get hands on with an exclusive steel case but you’ll also find a commemorative magnet coin and authenticity plate coming your way, as well as the Kombat Pack DLC the game itself and a wonderfully crafted bust of Scorpion’s Mask – what more could you really want?

Mortal Kombat 11 will be arriving on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC come 23rd April 2019. It’ll be Xbox One X and PS4 Pro enhanced too. Should you wish to get in early, then a Beta will be available on Xbox One and PS4 on 28th March 2019 – you’ll need to pre-order to get access.

So, there we have it. A roundup of everything showcased today – January 17th 2019 – for Mortal Kombat 11. Are you going to be taking to the fight in the upcoming brawler? Let us know in the comments below or via our usual social channels.
