Forget about Cyberpunk 2077 and the lengthy delays as there’s a new kid in town and today Cloudpunk has been confirmed for a 2020 release on Xbox One, PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Previously only announced for launch on PC, console gamers will now also be able to get hands-on with the rather highly anticipated story-driven open-world of Cloudpunk when it hits home later this year.
Coming from the publishers at Merge Games and those of the Berlin-based indie studio ION LANDS, Cloudpunk will see you hoisted up into the skies and beckoned forth to cruise amongst the clouds in the neon-streaked skies of Cloudpunk.
Working as a sprawling, story-based open-world adventure, Cloudpunk will see us visiting the cit of Nivalis, as the stunning voxel visual art style manages to deliver a vibrant, futuristic open world; a world that you will both look to live in and explore. From the lure of the underground nightclubs to the beautiful gardens in the sky, Cloudpunk promises much. And when you consider that inspiration behind it comes from the likes of Firewatch and the stunning Kentucky Route Zero, you should expect a deep narrative too, one that manages to provide a compelling take on the cyberpunk genre, as you meet characters, and explore worlds that have found inspiration from real places such as Shinjuku in Tokyo, as well as Hong Kong and Seoul.
All of this will play out as you step foot into the life of Rania, just as you begin your first night working for Cloudpunk, the semi-legal delivery company based in Nivalis. From there though, anything could happen as you explore dense, vertical landscapes that reach high into the clouds and deep down through the ocean waves below, meeting characters ranging from Androids and AI to unscrupulous humans at every level of society, and prepare yourself for the realisation that no delivery job is too dangerous, and nobody is faster than a Cloudpunk driver.
