Currently limited to Steam Early Access and only with the French language in place, it’s fair to say that Noob – The Factionless will be a game that many would not have heard of. But all that is set to change in 2023 as Microids and Olydri Games look to push the turn-based RPG to a much wider audience.

Due to release on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC in 2023, Noob – The Factionless will find benefit in the new co-publishing deal that is taking place between Microids and Olydri Games. And not only will it be coming digitally to those platforms, but retail versions in the form of Collector’s Editions will also drop.

Further to that though, Noob – The Factionless will ditch the French language exclusivity to include localization in several languages at launch.

It’s a game that is currently locked in early access on Steam, but Noob – The Factionless is a turn-based RPG set in the universe of Noob, the French transmedia franchise created by Fabien Fournier & Anne-Laure Jarnet in 2008, recounting the epic and humor-fuelled adventures of a team of newbie players in a fictional MMORPG called Horizon.

In terms of the game, Noob – The Factionless tells the adventure of four beginner players, forming the Rush guild comprising Baster, an eager and competitive Neogician; Drek, his best friend and blundering Berserker; May, an ambitious and sometimes arrogant Fortune-teller; and finally Logs, a dreamer and naïve Elementalist passionate about cooking.

Working as a combination, together they hope to quickly reach level 100 and unlock their Legendary class to join the elite of Horizon players. They wish to see the Rush guild becoming one of the greatest guilds in the game alongside the Noob, Justice, Roxxor and Pro Game Master guilds.

Besides the challenges encountered in the virtual world of this MMO, they will also have to complete quests in real life.

Still some way off from launch, but the move of Noob – The Factionless onto Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC should well appeal to many. Let us know if you fit that camp.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
