Numskull Destiny 2: Forsaken Merchandise Review

-

Bungie recently released the latest expansion to their space FPS, Destiny 2, with the Forsaken expansion and to celebrate this, Numskull updated their already impressive Destiny 2 merchandise line-up. We got our hands on a couple of the new releases and let me tell you, these are very well-crafted pieces.

First up is the new snapback hat and this one has a flat bill peak. It also features an adjustable strap at the back to make sure it sits comfortably on your head.

This snapback takes inspiration from everyone’s favourite Exo, Cayde-6. The front of the cap and underneath the peak feature the same design, taken from Cayde-6’s scarf, whilst the left-hand side has a pattern on it taken straight from his hood. The rest of the cap has a dark, camouflage green colour to it, and the top of the peak is a complimentary brown. Finished off with a silver sticker confirming this is official Destiny/Numskull merchandise. Cayde-6 himself would be proud of it.

Other little touches include a label at the back with the Destiny logo on one side and that of Numskull on the other, cooling holes in the top of the hat and lining adorned with the Destiny logo inside, helping it to keep its shape.

The hat is exceptionally well stitched together and there are no bits of extra cotton sticking out. It feels robust and strong enough to take a couple of rounds from Sunshot – whilst shading your head from the real sun – such is the standard that this has been made to.

If this flat bill style doesn’t suit you then there is also a curved bill snapback with a slightly different design, but still based off Cayde-6, again designed and made to the same high standard.

Both hats are available from Geekstore.com and are priced at £14.99 each.

We were also kindly sent one of their new keyrings which are based on various different ghost shells; we got hands-on with the Legendary Lambda Ghost Shell.

Initial thoughts were this was a slightly bigger keyring than originally anticipated. Not too big that it becomes an obstacle when looking for keys, but big enough that you can look and see the detailing on the shape and design.

The Lambda design is primarily a green, featuring neat red and silver lines parallel those of the shape of the Ghost shell. Unfortunately, this isn’t the most exciting design in the new line-up but take nothing away, this is a faithful representation of the Legendary shell.

The keyring does a great job recreating the unique shape of a Guardians ghost, including all the subtle design choices, so much so that this could easily be displayed as an ornament as well as a handy keyring. A note on the actual keyring bit as well, it’s a chain link design that means the Ghost won’t be falling off the chain any time soon, even when you pretend it’s a real Ghost shell and throw it up in the air like it’s hovering over you for protection.

Other Ghost shells available in the new range include the Kill Tracker shell originally given away as a pre-order shell for the base Destiny 2 game, the Last City shell and fellow Legendary Hunter shell and Cayde-6’s Ghost shell. All are available now from Geekstore.com priced at £9.99 but also available as a set of 5 priced at £39.99.

This latest round of merchandise for Destiny 2: Forsaken should be receiving the same plaudits that the game has been receiving. Every piece is built and designed to a very high standard and there will be something in the range for everyone. Hopefully their form continues because with Spyro the Dragon, Tomb Raider and Call of Duty ranges all in the very near future, Numskull are providing gamers with plenty of options!

Massive thank you to Rubber Road, Numskull and Geekstore for providing us with these samples.
