Pet the capybara with Green Hell’s Animal Husbandry Update on consoles!

We’ve known for a while that the Creepy Jar team behind Green Hell are fully committed to their open-world Amazonian survival simulator, having already pushed out tons of updates in the five years since release. But us console players have always been just behind the fold in terms of what is on offer in Green Hell so any update is much appreciated – especially when it is free and it lets us go petting the capybara.

Available today on Xbox and PlayStation, adding in ideas that have been seen on PC for a little while already, is the Animal Husbandry update for Green Hell. A free content drop in line with Creepy Jar’s previously highlighted roadmap for the game, this introduces many new features such as the ability to tame and breed a number of the game’s creatures – including the capybara.

Not content to just add this update for console players, the dev team at Creepy Jar have also ensured that new features and quality-of-life improvements hit, such as those from the Name your Pet Update and the Plant Naming patch. Updating Green Hell for consoles always takes a bit more time than on PC, but the goal for Creepy Jar is always to not only deliver new content as soon as possible but to also ensure they go over and above when the opportunity presents itself.

There’s more than just stroking some animals though. Utilising the all-new blowpipe weapon, players can hunt capybara, peccary, and tapir safely putting them to sleep in order to keep them within pens, which are able to be built at their bases. You’ll want to care for them, earn their trust, feed them, clean their living quarters, and maybe even breed them, as well.

Further to that, you can also use the blowpipe as a defense against other animal and human enemies by immobilizing the threat either immediately or over time based on your target’s size.

In addition to those creatures already listed, the Animal Husbandry update also introduces the ability to capture and breed bees, keeping them in beehives where players can then harvest valuable honey. Just don’t pet the bees, yeah.

You should be finding the Animal Husbandry update rolling out to an Xbox and PlayStation console near you right about now. If you don’t have the base game of Green Hell in your digital library, you may well wish to grab it from the likes of the Xbox Store.
