Physical Xbox Games get a boost as Red Art Games announce new limited edition lines

Xbox games on Red Art? You got it.

For some, digital is absolutely fine whilst others love a subscription service like Game Pass or Ubisoft+. For more though, it just HAS to be physical. If you sit in the latter camp you’ll be interested to hear the latest plans from Red Art Games – they are beginning to offer limited edition, physical Xbox games from their online store.

Whether it be a standard edition or an extra special collector’s or limited edition, Red Art Games have been specialising in physical games for a while. Until now, it’s seen focus on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation. But now they welcome the Xbox world in too.

Limited Edition Physical Xbox Games from Red Art Games

The very first game to be offered by Red Art Games on Xbox is that of the critically acclaimed Sophstar. A vertically scrolling shoot ’em up from Banana Bytes, ported to Xbox via the Red Art Games team, it’s a game that we reviewed back in 2022, dropping a 4/5 review score on it in the process.

“If you like a shoot ‘em up, then Sophstar is an easy sell. It is challenging and manages to pack a good amount of content into a small package.”

Red Art Games will be kicking off their Xbox love-in with 999 physical copies of Sophstar, available from March 1st. You can get pre-ordering them right now though. Just hit up the Red Art Games official online store

Game features include

  • 6 game modes
  • 9 ships to choose from, each with its own capabilities
  • Innovative teleporting system
  • 8 stages in Story mode, 60 stages in Cadet School mode
  • More than 20 boss and mid-boss fights
  • 6 difficulty levels
  • Proper 240×320 Arcade resolution
  • “Tate” (vertical) screen mode for an authentic Arcade-like experience

Expect more physical Xbox games to be offered by Red Art Games in the near future.

The questions that remain though are simple. Will you be purchasing a copy of Sophstar from Red Art? And is there space for physical media in the world? The comments are below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
