Pick up the Broken Pieces on Xbox and PlayStation

2026's Best Games

broken pieces

You may think that Broken Pieces is a big standard psychological thriller. But this one doesn’t just throw a ton of supernatural terrors your way, it takes you outside of the flow of time itself. WHAAAT!?

From the development team at Elsewhere Experience and their publishing friends found at Freedom Games HQ is Broken Pieces.

Releasing right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5, Broken Pieces whisks you off to the scenic lands of Saint-Exil, a small French costal town that is home to Elise and Pierre; her fiancĂ©. The thing is, Saint-Exil isn’t exactly the home they were originally imagining.

Priced at ÂŁ20.99, should you fall into the world of Broken Pieces you’ll begin to take in a sinister little tale, one that focuses on the disappearance of folk and the dark history of the once picturesque little village. But as with everything, there’s some real weirdness to how Broken Pieces plays out, mostly as Elise comes with a supernatural ability – one that lets her control the weather.

A game full of isolation and solitude, the interest and intrigue that this tale unfolds should be more than enough to drag you in. And if it isn’t, we’d suspect that the host of collectibles and the workings of a cryptic cult will instead.

“After the amazing response on PC earlier this year, we were so thankful console players were willing to wait a bit longer to ensure their versions were just as high-quality,” said Mael Vignaux, Project Lead of Elseware Experience. “Ironically enough, our game about solitude has connected people from all over the world into one large community, which in itself has us reanalyzing our design ethos for future projects. You have all inspired us, thank you, and Happy Halloween!”

If you’ve played Broken Pieces on PC through Steam, then you should know what to expect as it releases on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4 and PS5. If you haven’t, we’d suggest you will want to head straight to your favoured digital store – the Xbox Store being ours – and picking up a download.

Our full review is coming very soon.

Game Description:

When Elise and her fiancé decided to leave urban life and settle near the French coast, she could not imagine that she would end up completely alone. Now, surrounded by strange phenomena in a dark, post-Cold War climate, Elise will have to investigate and unravel the mysteries surrounding the region of Saint-Exil, its ritualistic cult, and its lighthouse overlooking the coast. Broken Pieces is an action-packed investigative and adventure video game set in France. The game puts you in the shoes of Elise, a woman in her thirties who finds herself in the village of Saint-Exil in an imaginary region reminiscent of Brittany. Following an unexplained paranormal phenomenon, Elise is stuck, completely alone and out of time. Your investigation begins here…

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
