Over the course of the last few months, a plethora of ‘Puzzle by Nikoli W’ games have hit the Xbox scene, giving us the chance to mess around with numbers and letters in order to find some order to the madness. Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu is the latest of those games – but this one ditches the numerical and alphabetical plans entirely. It’s still going to burn your brain though.
Anyone who has played a Puzzle by Nikoli W game before should know what to expect here. There’s no messing, there’s little fun, instead straight up puzzling goodness that will have you kept busy for an evening or three. Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu seems to be similar, but this is possibly the most basic of all the titles so far, leaving the player to draw lines through circles. That’s it.
Given a game board, in Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu you’ll be left hints, coming in the form of black and white circles. It’s up to you to understand what these are hinting at, before drawing a line through them, continuous, bisecting each circle.
The catch? well, that line cannot cross another and as it hits a white circle, it must travel forwards. Hit a black meanwhile and you’ll be u’ing it, switching up a 90 degree turn.
The puzzles in Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu are here to properly test your mental capacity – and we never thought that a simple line and circle puzzler could be some complex.
We’ll do the usual and spend a bit of time with Puzzle by Nikoli W Masyu before delivering a review, but if the previous games are anything to go by – the likes of Sudoku, Slitherlink, Hashiwokakero and more – this should be a decent little time waster.
It helps that a mere £3.99 is attached in terms of price, allowing you access from the Xbox Store to play on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. You’ll find a similar version for Windows 10 too.
