Red Dead Online has broken from the pack today and is going it alone. If you’ve been holding off from playing it, thanks to the steep Red Dead Redemption 2 price, now’s the time. Unholster your side-arm and swagger into town. Red Dead Online is out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC.

It’s at a reduced price from today, so go git: it’s £4.99 (75% off) until February 15th, 2021, after which it returns to its normal price of £17.99. There’s an option to unlock Red Dead Redemption 2’s story mode too, should you decide that you want a piece of Micah Bell III.

Of note is the arrival of the Bounty Hunters expansion too. It’s a good time to dive into Red Dead Online, as there’s a planned 10 rank expansion to the Bounty Hunter role, plus new Prestigious level equipment, new skills to unlock, a new category of bounties called Legendary Bounties, and a new 100 Rank outlaw pass.

There are bonuses running throughout next week as a tempting carrot:

  • Increased RDO$ and XP for all Posse members on Free Roam Missions, Bounty Missions, and Free Roam Events
  • Double XP in all A Land of Opportunities missions and Bounty Hunter missions
  • Discounts in the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Catalogue: 40% off all Outfits including Role Outfits, 30% off all Horses, Repeaters, Pistols, the Schofield Revolver, Saddles and Improved Saddles, Coats, and Vests
  • New Prime Gaming Benefits: Players who connect to Prime Gaming before December 21st will receive a Reward for a free Breton Horse and RDO$100
  • Additional Prime Gaming Benefits: A free Katata Coat, 6,000 Naturalist XP, a free Wilderness Camp, and 5 free Legendary Animal Pheromones for players that connect their Social Club account with Prime Gaming

It’ll be interesting to see how many people have been holding off from diving into Red Dead Online based on the initial outlay, and whether £4.99 is enough of a drop. Regardless, it certainly seems like a good time to stump up the cash, as plenty of varmints will be in-game for the Bounty Hunters boosts.

Red Dead Online is out now on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and starts at £4.99 from the Xbox Store, increasing to full price on February 15, 2021. It’s also out on PS4, PS5 and PC.
