Ever since Rust launched through Steam Early Access back in 2013, players have had the opportunity to embark on a survival journey like no other. In fact, millions have played the game since it first arrived allowing it to evolve into an all-new beast. It wasn’t however until 2019 when we first heard that the competitive survival experience would be coming to Xbox One and PS4, and it’s not until now that we’ve had any inkling of a release window. Hold on to the excitement though as just as a new trailer emerges from the Double Eleven team, a full console release window is confirmed.
A totally brutal competitive multiplayer game, Rust will be breaking free from the Steam shackles to launch on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PS4 in the spring. At what point in the spring? Well, nobody knows but with a closed beta is on the cards for launch in the next few weeks, so we’d hazard a guess that it’ll all be up and live sooner rather than later, with ‘a few months’ all that is confirmed.
If you’re looking for the ultimate competitive survival experience on console, then Rust is looking likely to provide it. When it arrives on Xbox and PlayStation you will be able to play online with up to 100 others. It will have you waking up on a mysterious post-apocalyptic island littered with dilapidated industrial monuments and probing scientists, leaving things to you to figure out how to keep yourself alive in a world where everything wants you dead.
You see, in Rust, there is just one goal – to survive. You’ll need to conquer thirst and hunger, battle the elements, create clothing and stay safe against hostile forces. But these don’t just include other players; except to stumble upon scientists, bears, wolves or even succumb to fire, drowning or radiation poisoning. This is most definitely a game without rules, and at no point will Rust tell its inhabitants what to do. You will be free to be deceptive and aggressive with intense player vs. player combat, raiding and looting, but there is potentially even more to be earned with a team of friendly players by your side. In the struggle for survival and supremacy, players can build tiny cabins in the woods, or create huge scrap metal fortresses in an attempt to stay safe, as well as craft a variety of weapons, bombs and traps.
