Say what you like about the newly rebooted Saints Row, but we loved what Deep Silver and Volition delivered back in 2022. Yes there were problems, but for sheer fun, it absolutely nailed matters. Going forward, it’s a game that will continue to cause mayhem too, as future expansions, new Dead Island 2 themed DLC and more are revealed.
Santo Ileso is set to get bigger throughout 2023, as Deep Silver and Volition build Saints Row on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and PC with three major releases for all Expansion Pass holders (we’ll be holding those keys!), a couple of new free districts, quality of life improvements and, ahead of release of the hotly anticipated Dead Island 2, a zombie-inspired cosmetic pack.
It’s that which is leading the way and come April 11th 2023, Saints Row players will find a free Dead Island 2 DLC pack arriving at their door. It’ll be a bit of HELL-A meets the Weird West in this free content inspired by Deep Silver’s forthcoming zombie slay-‘em up, as players get the chance to dress their boss with items from reckless antihero Jacob or quick-witted athlete Amy. They’ll also be able to apply shock and awe with a new weapon, stagger with swagger with a new emote, and evoke beachside memories with an iconic pink flamingo hat and Carver the Shark statue for their HQ. Admit it, you’ll be firing Saints Row up on the 11th to see what is what, yeah?
From there and come May 2023 we’ll see Saints Row expanded with another free update – the biggest yet with Sunshine Springs adding in a brand-new district to Santo Ileso, alongside a swathe of quality of life changes (such as overhauled combat, Selfie Mode and more) and improvements.
On that exact same day, Expansion Pass holders will get access to The Heist & The Hazardous – three new story missions set in Sunshine Springs as the Saints take on an ambitious heist as payback for being double-crossed by a famous actor.
There’s more though and in July the second bit of Expansion Pass goodness will arrive in the form of Doc Ketchum’s Murder Circus, with further QOL improvements also promised. And then August will see the third and final add-on, a second new district expansion and more. We’ll have you details of that as and when they are unveiled.
If you haven’t yet played Saints Row, we urge you to do so. It’s a game that delivers on the fun, no matter whether that be across Xbox, PlayStation or PC. Grab it from the Xbox Store if you are tempted by the crime-fuelled experience on offer.
